The Grotta Smeralda set in the bay of Conca dei Marini, reachable only by boat, is supposed to be a dramatic sea-level cavern with dazzling green light effects. Boats go from the main pier at Amalfi for the 4km ride.
Alternatively reached by road where a lift or many stairs lead down the cliff where little boats will take you inside the cavern.
Its always crowded with the boats queuing up to enter...you are barely in a few minutes and then out again Give it a miss there are better caverns too - Blue Grotto on the Isle of Capri is nicer.
In fact just go for a boat ride past it and enjoy the scenery outside!
Beware of overly friendly Willy & Co. coaxing you to their "hostel" on the hill. These Aussies are illegal money-grubbers living off backpackers' tired goodwill. Oh, and their Pub is nothing to brag about either.

Unique Suggestions:
Tell all your friends about it, especially in front of Amalfi Carbinieri. After all, Willy wants business, does he not?
Fun Alternatives:
There are plenty of picturesque (free) beaches and cheap accommodations in Amalfi. Don't pay $7.50 to hike 300 stairs and sleep in the dirt after a midnight curfew!
...but paying like for a dinner!!!!
Unique Suggestions:
We bought a take away pizza for 5 euro.... and an icecream sit down in the main square for 10 euro....
maybe we had to ask for pizza taste!!!
