by ruki Regular ferries - weather permitting - run to Capri from Naples and Sorrento. In Naples, ferries and hydrofoils embark from Molo Beverello (near Piazza Municipio) and Molo Mergellina (near the railway station of the same name). Journey time is approximately 40 minutes with a hydrofoil and 1hr 20 mins with a ferry. The trip from Sorrento is much shorter, and there are plenty of crossings a day to cater for daytrippers. by ghannan For those who go on a daytrip to Capri (I hope that you decide to spend more time than that), be careful about timing. If you buy tickets for the Funiculare and plan to take that back down at the end of the day, buy 2 tickets for each person in the morning. That way, you don't have to wait in line at the end of the day to buy tickets and THEN wait in line to get on the funiculare. Also, give yourself enough time to get down to the boat at the end of the day. My husband and I waited in line for nearly 45 minutes to get onto the funiculare on the day we left. We left plenty of time for that wait, but we heard many people worried about whether they would miss their boat or not. Once the last boat leaves, you are stuck on the island! Theme: Other

by ruki Capri ferries arrive at the port of Marina Grande. From Marina Grande, buses run up to Capri town and Anacapri. There is also a funicular which travels to Capri town. If you don't fancy lugging your suitcases around, you can hand them over to a porter who will deliver them to your hotel for a fee (many hotels will arrange a porter service for you). Buses travel busily around the island, connecting Capri, Anacapri, Marina Grande, the Grotta Azzurra, Faro and Marina Piccola. Boats also run around the coastline. The island, however, is highly walkable so you may not bother too much about public transport when you're there. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Many people choose to come to Capri for a day trip. Because of this, they want to spend as much time as possible on the island before having to return to their starting location. Therefore, the boat tickets sell out for the later times pretty quickly. Save yourself heartache and hassle by purchasing your return boat tickets as soon as you reach Capri. That way, on your rush to get down the funiculare and to the dock, you don't have to stand in the long lines to purchase boat tickets. Also, if those times are sold out when you reach the dock at the end of the day, you will be spending a night on Capri (not such a horrible thing!). Be smart. Buy tickets when you get there. by Willettsworld Capri runs good bus links between: Capri - Anacapri - Capri Capri - Marina Grande - Capri Capri - Damecuta - Capri Marina Grande - Anacapri - Marina Grande Marina Piccola - Anacapri - Marina Piccola. Anacapri - Grotta Azzurra - Anacapri Anacapri - Faro Punta Carena - Anacapri A one way ticket costs € 1,30, a 60 min ticket costs € 2,10 and an all day unlimited ticket costs € 6,70. Hold on tight as the roads are very narrow and twisty. The main bus station in Capri town is just a couple minutes walk down Via Roma from Piazza Umberto. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

There's a rather impressive system for purchasing ferry/hydrofoil/bus/funicular tickets at the port side in Capri. Turn right at the end of the quay and you'll see a booth (with organised queuing) where you can buy any ticket you want. There's an electronic display board too, giving the times of the next few ferries/hyrdrofoils. Look for the big yellow sign. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Getting around the island without having to spend a fortune is possible in the island. You can move between the popular routes e.g Capri, Marina Grande, Marina Piccola, Anacapri, Faro and Grotta Azzurra for as little as 1.30 euro. Little orange buses regularly go to these stops depending on the final destinations. Be warned though, since the Isle of Capri is almost always full of visitors, you will sometimes need to squeeze in the little buses and ride on the winding streets.

by Willettsworld The hydrofoil to Capri leaves the port in Sorrento roughly every half hour, takes about 25-30 minutes and costs about 20 euros return. While you're waiting to board, you can walk around the small marina or sit in the small park area by the ticket offices. When I travelled back to Sorrento it seemed a bit confusing as I waited under the canopy to get out of the sun but when it was time to embark, the queue didn't move that much. Instead, other people beside the canopy (in the sun) got onboard and I didn't. If you definitely want to get onboard then don't wait under the canopy if you can help it. Shuttle station, Capri by goodfish Other than walking, the cheerful little orange buses are the least expensive way to get around the island - at least where motorized vehicles can go. Tickets can be purchased on the bus, from ticket offices near the piazzas in both Capri and Anacapri towns, and a ticket office on Marina Grande. There are both single ride, daily and funicolare/ bus combos. The funicolare (which we didn't take) is a tram from Marina Grande up to Capri town and the wait to get on it can be long when a large ferry has just unloaded. The buses are not very big and fill to standing-room-only quickly but if one is full, it won't be long until the next one comes along. The route from Capri town to Anacapri (which is situated much higher up a mountain) is a white-knuckle, hair-raising, stomach-turning thrill ride on a VERY narrow road. If heights don't make you sweat, grab a seat (or stand) on the RIGHT side of buses leaving Capri, and LEFT side (behind the driver) leaving Anacapri. The panorama of the bay and Capri town below is incredible if you are brave enough to keep your eyes open! I'm including a good link for schedules, routes, rates and ticket types. For a PDF of schedules, look for red "Bus" on left side of page - the icon for the download is below it. Leave a Comment
