Narrow streets of the old quarter

canyonesque

Favorite thing: Just get lost! Linger, and marvel at the ingenuity of Neapolitans who live in the heart of this great city, on a street grid that was laid down 2400 years ago.

Of course, if you're claustrophobic, this probably isn't the place for you!

Favorite thing: Naples is very different from northern Italian cities .

There are three main attractions::
( 1) Pompeii - easliy accessable by train and worth the trip
(2) the Blue Grotto - never went so there is no comment to be made
(3) Pizza's
Neopolitan Pizza's are the best , No agruement.
There are three to try :
Margherita
Pizza Alla Napolitana ( tomato and basil )
Calvone - This one is number one.

PIAZZA DEL PLEBISCITO

Favorite thing: In Piazza del Plebiscito try to walk, with a blindfold on your eyes, from the point where I took the pic to the statue in the middle in front of you; when you'll think to have reached it open your eyes and you'll have a surprise!!
..try it!!!

Favorite thing:

to my A'

Thank you Naples

You opened wide those arms to me

welcomed me, a guest

with a gift

I bask within your warmth

maybe momentary

but still I hold within

a life time of feelings

enough to feed

the most barren heart

reflected perhaps

engaging the rose tinted concept

where happiness within

deny's negative perceptions

Love walked in Naples

and looked me in the eye

kept respectful distance

then sadly said good bye

Ti amo

Fondest memory: Arriving in Naples after a long train journey from Venice. It was an incredible feeling to actually arrive having already seen many spectacular places en route.

As soon as we got off the train in Naples Central Rail station I was immediately struck by the difference in the people compared to the north of the country. There were many more beggars and our tour guide warned us not to leave any bages unattended.

Me and my folks (I'm at right) in Pompeii

Favorite thing: Pompeii is interesting, but I wouldn't say you have to check it out. Herculaneum is just like Pompeii, but smaller in size, and better preserved. I prefer Herculaneum to Pompeii, but then again, when I checked out Pompeii, they'd taken all the ash guys to a museum. Boo. Anyway, if you're into history, check out one of the two, but if you're not that big into things you've seen a million times in magazines, books and on t.v., it doesn't get too much more impressive in person.

Around and about Naples.

Favorite thing: Go to the sea terminal, put your back to it and line up a snap like this one.

I really enjoyed that Naples-- seems to be such a lay back kind of place........Sure you have the traffic and the hordes of people but it seems to me to be a lot more sedate than Rome. That was my impression anyway.

Fondest memory: I haven't really seen enough to have that kind of attachment, but I am prepared to get one when I next visit.

Pompei sulle il luce

Favorite thing: If you are in Naples at the right time you will be able to visit Pompei when they light the ruins at night. It's a fantastic way to visit Pompei for the second time. I recommend visiting during the day first to explore the city fully.
