Friends and Family in Naples by sargentjeff My friend Maurizio owns this pasticceria downtown in Spaccanapoli. Him and his wife Alle were the witness couple at our wedding in 2001, and he makes some delicious treats to satiate your sweet tooth. Try a sfogliatello Napolitana for a nice start. He also has gelato (Italian Ice cream) and many other great things.
Anything. And if you stop by, wish him and Alle a congrats on their new arrival, as they are expecting parents in Nov 2002. Auguri!! Maurizio is on the right in the Photo. That's two of his friends, and Mariangela in front. Leave a Comment Theme: DessertPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Via B. Pizza Margharita by sargentjeff Pizza in Naples is a part of life, as is bread in Germany, or McDonalds and fast food in the US. Or maybe more like rice in the orient. To eat just one restaurant's pizza is selling it short. To truly experience Napolitan Pizza you must try it from different Pizzerie. A true Napolitan normally orders only Margharita. It's very simple, and contains only the dough, tomatos, Mozzerella di Bufula, oil, and basil. Napolitan Pizza dough is so tasty and indescribably delicious. It is best eaten when the crust is a little burnt. Not totally, but in spots around the edges. It is also normal for it to bubble up. it will be fairly soft when cooked properly, and it is custom to eat it with a knife and fork, as they don't cut it into slices. For a Margharita in even the most expensive places, you should pay no more than 5-6 euro.

Everything. the pizza is different from typical napolitan, but delicious. They make authentic Napolitan/Italian food. They speak english and cater to the military population frequently. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Agnano, Very close to Naval Support Activity Agnano.

Look for the line outside at lunchtime - the locals queue up for the pizzas which are made in a wood-burning pizza oven and are produced at lightening speed. There are tables inside with a more extensive menu. Slightly olde-worlde but good food and apart from us foreignors, everyone else was a local i.e. business man, shop attendants and so on. I happened to find this very friendly restaurant where, on some occasions, you even share the table with other people. I also had a great time chatting with the owner who was talking about very funny things. It was like having lunch at home. We visited Naples in November, 2005. Went by the Cafe Gamberus after the opera. What a wonderful cap to a great evening. Had a cocktail, and just people watched, and later on had a coffee and desert. This is a must on your trip to Bella Napoli.

This nice cafe is in Piazza Bellini, a pedestrian area where you can also visit the ancient greek walls of the city. It's a meeting point for the cultural elite of the city. In a comfortable environment you can have a drink or enjoy a light lunch while browsing the books that are on display, taking a look at the art expo that are frequently held and listening to nice music. The bar is open 10 am to 3 am Leave a Comment Theme: BreakfastPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Piazza Bellini 70Phone: + 39 081 29 07 20Directions: Metro Station Dante, then walk through Port' Alba (the ancient city entrance, you can't miss it) and go to the left.

Several good reviews of this great little restaurant already (see toonsarah, among others), with which I agree. No one mentioned however that the lovely Waiters all look like extras from 'The Godfather'. Go and see if I'm not right! This pizzeria was once owned by the creator of the famous "Pizza Margerita", named after the Queen Margherita. In the modern days this is a over commercialized and abused reason to serve a below-quality pizza (uncooked) and very very expensive. Avoid it at all costs. Go to other places: the pizza is better (and cheaper) if you don't get it there. Leave a Comment
