Established in 1738, Antica Pizzeria is often considered the best Pizzeria in Naples.
The menu includes a huge selection of pizzas as well as typical Neapolitan dishes. The Linguine alla Luciana and Linguine alla Santa Lucia are superb.

We were the first to arrive at this small restaurant (6 tables) and were greeted very cordially by an old guy and an old lady. The menu was written by hand, sometimes a little bit hard to decipher. However, the man was very helpful, read it to us, explained some dishes we did not know (I do not know if he speaks English, we talked only Italian). After having ordered, the lady disappeared into the kitchen and the food we finally got was great, casareccia (homemade)! Highly recommendable!
Favorite Dish: pasta, insalata, pesce a stella: everything was delicious, especially the fish!

La campagnola is hidden in the spaccanapoli, the most popular place in the city. At first look, it seems to be a grocer's but the restaurant (5 or 6 small tables) is hidden behind. There, giovani seats at your table and describes you the different dish, all depend of the market in the morning. here we are talking about the real italian food and it's really a place to eat in naples. i can't imagine eat somewhere else when i visit naples.
Favorite Dish: pasta with mussel, garlic and tomato, something really simple but with an amazing taste.

We were walking around the Galleria Umberto area doing some window shopping when we decided we were hungry and started looking for a restaurant. I'm not sure how we ended up finding this place but we couldn't have found a more charming restaurant with great food if we tried.
Situated in what might seem as a back alley the restaurant was nestled between a small grocery store and a butcher. We sat outside and ordered the house red wine which was very good and very inexpensive. We bought it as a liter.
The owner was very friendly and was telling us jokes. He strolled up and down the street entering the nearby businesses and we joked with him that he was a bigshot who owned everything on the street, he smiled and said "no, no I just friendly".
Anyway there was a guitar player who was really quite good. He sung us a few Italian songs and then burst into some Elvis"Blue, blue suede shoes yeah!" I even got him to play The Door's Light My Fire, man it was great we had a blast.
I had a delicous pasta with prawns. This place is highly recommended for its great atmosphere, excellently friendly staff and awesome food!
Favorite Dish: Pasta Gemberoni, pasta with prawns with the house red wine.

I was walking the strand along the Bay of Naples and saw this restaurant among the many others that had an outdoor seating area and thought I would give it a try.
I was very pleased, I guess it was happy hour, they served a buffet of various tasty Italian appetizers from pasta to seafood, it was all good. They had a good beer selection. I had a relaxing time as I sat and watched the sunset over the Bay of Naples.
Favorite Dish: The buffet and all that was served.

Homely Osteria where the owner is also the chef. 8 tables only. Excellent service. We were lucky to be accepted although the late hour (15.30) after finishing the visit at the museum.
Daily changing menu based on fresh products. We were delighted .
Favorite Dish: It's difficult to choose, since everything was good, but the dessert "cassata alla napoletana" was really outstanding.

The place is family owned -- and it is usually jam packed full of Italians (and tourists) -- but mostly Italians from what we observed (in January). Get there as early as possible. The service was friendly and there was sufficient seating, but it was already packed and there was an hour plus wait list (so we ordered ours to go).
Favorite Dish: They only have two styles of pizza -- go with friends to order both. If you get their early you can get a table, otherwise order it to go (faster) and grab a seat somewhere (what we did) -- but it was still sooooooooooo good. I have yet to find anywhere that can replicate their crust -- the woodfire taste -- the crust that actually tastes good and isn't there to be there (if you know what I mean).
The sauce too, is not salty or overladen like here in the States. You just have to experience it. This is why I love thin crust pizza. It's not oily either... oh my, I'm dying to go back.

I have a confession. I hate Naples. With a passion. Just the thought of going there gives me a headache and makes me feel a little bit nauseous. Why, then, do I always make sure that my train trips from the south of Italian have a stopover in this god-forsaken city? The answer is simple, my friends:
PIZZERIA TRIANON
I have never in my life eaten pizza that even remotely compares to the pizzas at this little, old pizzeria. Thin, delicate crust cooked to perfection, with the highest quality buffalo mozzarella, fresh cherry tomatoes and the perfect amount of parmesan cheese (Margarita DOC is the name of this particular pizza). Prices are ridiculously affordable, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and the staff seem to love their jobs. It is a ten-minute walk down Corso Re Umberto from the train station (turn right when you see the store called "Graziano" on the opposite side of the street) and there are two locations, one across from the other. I prefer to eat in the older, more authentic one.
No trip to Naples (or the south of Italy for that matter) is complete without a stop at this pizzeria!
My favorite pizza is the Margarita DOC! On the eighth day, God invented buffalo mozzarella...

This is a place where families meet and eat. busy, bright, tables pushed together, children in soccer uniforms. Wait staff friendly, suprised to have tourists. We were directed here by people in the neighborhood after having wandered around looking for somewhere to eat. Pizza and a bottle of wine for 2 was $17.00.
Favorite Dish: We ordered pizza. They had a great looking menu, but we were just planning a light snack to tide us over until dinner. Crust was light and crisp, sau

My Italian friends adviced me to go to this particular pizzeria. The place is not that big (anyway there're places both upstairs and downstairs) but service is fast and prices cheap. It was fun to watch the cooks making the pizza, a way to learn how they do it in Italy :)
Favorite Dish: In Napoli you have to eat pizza Margherita as it's the first original pizza, "discovered" or invented in Napoli. The pizzas in this restaurant had quite a lot of oil on them, but at least I didn't mind..
