Naple is the pizza city for sure and you can taste the best pizza in Mattozzi restaurant, in Tribunale street.
It is an extremely simple restaurant, where you can taste the typical Napolitan pizza that you should eat using just your hands.

Re di Napoli: Il Re is King!

I have been to this place several times and thoroughly enjoyed it every single time I went.
The pizza and antipasti are awsome and mix it in with a good bottle of wine and you have yourself a meal.
The place is busy and there might be a wait on weekends but its well worth it.
Upstairs is a little more quite and private but downstairs and outside have a much more local feel with all of the people around you and the pizza maker is actually in the same room in full view.

Favorite Dish: Anything with fresh mozzarella di bufala is great.

Salvatore alla Riviera: Not only pizza

It's behind the public garden (Villa Comunale), 50 meters from the sea. The place is not really pleasant because outside there are cars everywere. But inside the restaurant everything changes. People is nice and food is great. The pizza is ranting, the seafood is delicious, expecially the soup with "vongoles". And I have no words for the appetizers: lot of vegetables fried in a sort of bread, and the terrific potatos croquette.

Favorite Dish: For me: pizza margharita
For my girfriend: "vongoles" soup

'A Tiella: Pizza and tasty food

Fresh fish, seafood pasta, and for those who prefere something more traditional, tasty pizza!
Nice ambience with A/C for the hot days. But you can also seat and enjoy the fresh in a tiny lane completely occupied by the restaurant's tables.
Prices are reasonable.

Favorite Dish: Pezzogna all' acqua pazza

Matozzi's: According to my friend, Yosuke....

I didn't eat here, but according to my classmate, Yosuke, this is the best pizza in Napoli. Yosuke is a chef from Japan studying in Napoli to learn the technique of making a perfect pizza. We only studied one month together, but he would always talk about this restaurant and claimed he went here at least once a week.

McDonald's: If you can't live without out McD's

If you can't live without McDonald's, you are in luck. Napoli has several, even SILVER edition ones which are supposedly more posh than just the regular red and yellow ones, complete with live music. I can't say for sure though.

Favorite Dish: The salads and grissini are okay... I guess if you are starving the "French fries" are okay too... But if you feel like you have a brick in your stomach after, don't blame me. You've been warned

Pizzaiolo dal Presidente: Don't go further if you want real pizza napoletana

Not the sort of place that goes unnoticed.

The place is always very busy with locals and the occasional tourists, and since it does also take away the street in front is often bustling with scooters and cars.

The place is nice inside, with a surprisingly airy basement and a fast, if sometimes a bit rude, service.

The pizza is quite unlike any other you can taste in Italy. It's soft and thick in good stile napoletano, and the fillings they use are of good quality. A unique specialty is fried pizza, see below.

As drinks, you can choose between Italian beer (not bad) and a drinkable house wine. The bill was very honest, you should not pay more than 10-12 euros for a pizza meal with drinks and coffee.

Be prepared to wait if you come after 8 pm, especially at weekends.

Favorite Dish: What a delicious thing that pizza was! and it was fried! try asking "pizza fritta" for yourself and see!

Cristofaro - Ristorante/Pizzeria: Try the gnocchi in Ischitella!

Great food at a great price! This is a family owned restaurant and the mom is a great cook! The decorations are not that exciting, but the food most definitely makes up for it all.

Favorite Dish: As a vegetarian it's often difficult to find good food aside from eating fries and salads. However, I especially like the custom made saltimbocca (spelling?) and the gnocchi here!

Cantina della Sapienza: Local favorite - cozy and intimate

Andiamo alla tavola!

Literally, one of those "hole in the wall" places that Naples is chock-full of. Comfortable, clean and efficient, the Cantina seems to attract a mix of tourists (from the nearby Archeological Museum) and locals. Inexpensive and delectable food, very affordable wine. I had a baked eggplant dish that puts to shame every other "Eggplant parmigana" that I've ever tasted.

This is a classic Neapolitan pizzeria shoehorned into a small space in the Centro Storico. Yes, that is a signed photo of Bill Clinton on the walls: he came here and finished off two whole pizza pies. You might be tempted to imitate him, the crusts are doughy perfection, the sauces and toppings fresh and well-spiced. I ate here twice and was delighted both times - and you certainly can't beat the prices. 3 euros for a Pizza Margherita that is a meal in itself? Bon appetito!
