A moped is obligatory in Naples.......
and to some...a friend :-)
From Napoli to Ischai.........
From Napoli Centrale station you can go to Piazza Municipio by bus, then you can reach Molo Beverello by walking (300 mt.).
From Napoli Mergellina station you can reach Mergellina port by walking (500 mt.).

If you arrive you air your best bet is to get a taxi to your hotel it will cost you though? We paid L40,000 while a local bus costs L1,800. But we did not want to be walking Naples with our bags so it was worth it.
If you get the bus it will drop you in the centre of town and the train will leave you at the main station near Piazza Garibaldi.
Naples is not a huge city - it took us less than an hour to walk from Piazza Garibaldi to the main harbour. While doing this we saw some wonderful sights.
If you want to get out of the city you can catch trains to Sorrento,Pompii and Rome at Piazza Garibaldi.

If you must use a car in Naples, it's better to drive yourself. Then, at least, you still have some control over your destiny. As a passenger, you can only trust in the Lord. Remember, when sitting beside a Neapolitan driver, that traffic lights in Naples have a different significance: Green means go, Amber means accelerate and Red means shut your eyes and make the sign of the cross.

Not so much getting there as getting away. When the time came for old Cliffie to think about leaving Naples, he started thinking about a car to haul everything away. In those long ago days there were strict currency exchange rules, which meant that finding dollars to buy a tax-free car for export was a tricky business. But old Cliffie, more Italian than the Italians, came to an 'arrangement' with a friend at a bank. Old Cliffie got his little red car and his friend was eased through a difficult exam.

Capodichino airport. For information: 081/ 789.61.11Naples has three stations: Napoli Centrale, Mergellina, Campi Flegrei (Phlegrean Fields). All national rail traffic develops along the line Rome – Naples – Reggio Calabria, which allows direct connections with Intercity and Eurostar lines In the city center, besides buses, whose tickets can be purchased in tobacco shops or bars, we can comfortably travel by metro (subway), thus solving any problems related to the intense rush-hour traffic.
The metro line connecting the Central Railway Station to the Mergellina Station crosses the entire city. Travelling by taxi can be a pleasant experience even if it isn’t very economical.
The natural joviality and courtesy of Naples’ taxi drivers engages visitors. They are often the first tour guides to the city, telling traditional Parthenopaean legends and stories throughout the voyage.
Just one warning: to avoid unpleasant situations, it’s a good idea to use only authorized taxis. The radiotaxi service has these numbers: Radiopartenope, tel. 5560202; Radionapoli, tel. 5564444

The motorways are the best way to drive to the Naples area. The roads are not as good when you get this far south. But living in the USA I am used to bad roads and drivers who don't know where they are going.
You must pay attention when you drive in the south of Italy. They don't give you as much distance on the motorways to get off at the exits you want. So expect to see only one sign showing the turn. But everything is marked well.
