Before leaving on my trip, I was warned by several folks to "Stay away from the Blue Grotto!" Once you arrive in Capri, the Blue Grotto is just one of those sights that you feel obligated to visit simply because......it's there!
We went ahead and waited in the line for the tiny rowboats that monopolize the entrances into the grotto. You almost get the feeling that you're standing in line for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride in Disneyland. The area gets packed with tourists. Once you do the "limbo, limbo" under the tiny entrance crack, for a split second you are a bit mesmerized by the cool dark colors inside the cave. That is, before the panic settles in for those claustrophobics.
I guess it was a memorable visit into this cave, but it would be something I would recommend only doing once to get it out of your system!
Unique Suggestions: If you end up visiting the Grotto, tell the boatman that you'd tip him 2 Euros extra if he DIDN'T do another rendition of "O Sole Mio."
