We stopped here for something to eat on our way over the mountains after our drive along the Amalfi coast. The restaraunt and hotel are quite lovely and the view from the restaraunt and veranda are amazing. we chose from the Snack menu and had a glass of wine, small salad and a local speciality of cheese pancakes for 13 Euros per person. It would have been nice if the 3 small pancakes had been served with something else but it was just a Snack menu.
If you want your change after paying for your meal make sure you pick it up as soon as the waiter puts it on the table because 3 seconds after he had put it down he picked it back up again and said thank you.
We were treated like royalty at this family restaurant...a can't miss if you ever visit Ravello..The cook (Netta) came out of the kitchen and pinched my cheek just like in the commercials..
Favorite Dish: Any pasta dish will work here...but the “pasta mista” is worth the money.
We were recommended to this restaurant by a local we befriended. Not only is the food sensational and reasonably priced, but we spent two highly entertaining afternoons just watching the "goings-on" in the restaurant, particularly the "godmother" who buzzed around spreading charm, good food, and merriment. Unfortunately, we could not try everything on the menu, but the steak was the best I have ever eaten, the pasta superb, the veggies delicious. The place is heavily frequented by locals which is always a good sign. Even in the off-tourist season, the place was full, so a reservation is a good idea.
If you get as far as Amalfi, take a bus to Ravello for magnificent views of the coast, a charming town, and the best food on the coast. When you get off the bus, there are several restaurants with spectacular views of the coast. Take in the view, but proceed thru the tunnel to the main Ravello square. Cumpa Cosimo is worth foregoing the view for both the cuisine and entertainment value.
Favorite Dish: Steak was fantistic; pasta equally so. If in doubt, let the "godmother" select your fare...you won't go wrong. The house wine is a local, very pleasant, and a great value.
This cafe was so cute, and it was just about the only place open because there is some sort of regulation about which restaurants are supposed to be closed on tuesdays in Italy...
So, this place was extra busy. Cute little tables inside but we were lucky enough to grab a table outside in the sun
Favorite Dish: Great salad with italian tuna, tomatoes and mozzarella.. and croquettes.
This charming family-owned restaurant delivered a superb meal - pastas among the best we have ever eaten. Limoncello on the house when we finished. The restaurant is run by "the grandmother" who has been doing so for years. The menu is long and extensive but if she offers you the opportunity to give the menu back and let her pick the meal for you - don't think, just do it. On the internet, this place gets some strange reviews and also some negative reviews but not from us. Make reservations.
Favorite Dish: The signature dish is a pasta dish with multiple different forms in several sauces including pesto, but frankly everything out table ordered was excellent (we had a larger group having met some other travellers along the way) and sampled. Gelato is homemade.
The restaurant is overseen by the quintessential Italian grandmother, Netta Bottone. The trattoria was full of tourists, who’d been brought to Cumpa' Cosimo by their savvy Italian drivers (who Netta served freebies in the back room), but there were a few Italian tables here and there. Netta meandered around the restaurant, clearly in her element, telling, not necessarily asking, her patrons what they should eat, all the while seeing to it that all palates were pleased, and all stomachs were stuffed. Overall, it makes for a highly satisfying and entertaining meal.
Favorite Dish: Try the “pasta mista” (a sampling of seven different pastas).
Atmosphere of a gorgeous mountanous village,
with a view to Amalfi coast.
It took me almost one hour to climb to the summit of the BEAUTIFUL area - but it well worths the effort.
