Bar Ercolano couldn't get more central. It is located right in the heart of Piazza Tasso which is Sorrento's busiest piazza. It is always busy as it serves splendid coffee and ice-cream. You can also enjoy beer, wine or have a snack. It is great for people-watching since practically everyone passes by this bar. We had coffee fredo which was magnificent!!! This is the original fredo with the great aroma and taste, nothing like the freddo we have back home. And it is only 2,50 euros! It cannot get any cheaper. The service was excellent, and above all, very quick.
This is a cafe and not a restaurant and is the perfect spot for People watching as it is located on the busy Piazzo Tasso but is cheaper than some of the other restaurants that surround the square.
This is the perfect spot to order a coffee or a cold drink, maybe have a sandwisch or a cake, or the nuts they provide and sit back and watch the world go by, marvel at how many people you saw on one scooter, read a book or just enjoy the sunshine and the atmosphere. It's also open at night, when they restrict the traffic around the square and you see all the families and people milling about.
I spent many a happy time here during my stay in Sorrento
Favorite Dish: I didn't really have much to eat here .. although I had a HUGE sugared ring donut here which was lovely .. but the reason for coming here is to people watch and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere - don't come here if you're in a hurry, it's a place to relax and watch the world go by!
In my view you can’t visit Italy without eating ice cream, and in this part of the country the lemon granita reigns supreme. If you want to combine your ice cream eating with the pleasures of people watching, this is the perfect spot – right in the middle of Sorrento’s busiest square, the Piazza Tasso. The tables are arranged around a central service point, all of them outdoors but with an awning. As well as ice cream the bar serves a complete range of alcoholic and soft drinks, coffees (of course – this is Italy) and light meals. We both opted for ices however. There was a large selection but I knew for sure I wanted the lemon granita, and chose the straciatella (small chocolate chips in vanilla) to go with it, while Chris went for his favourite chocolate and like me the straciatella. Each glass of two generous scoops cost €4 which was good value I thought for the size and quality. This made a lovely final stop before we headed to the station for the train back to Naples.
Situated in Piazza Tasso opposite Fauno Bar this is a lovely looking Kiosk type bar that sells everything from drinks, ice creams (in cones or dishes) to meals. It's a great place to sit and watch the world go by. Cheaper than the other bars around the square and with a much more friendly and traditional atmosphere. The local snacks are fantastic.
Bottle beer 3.50 Euro
Pizza margherita 3.50 Euro
If you don,t want to sit down you can just purchase snaks and drinks to eat while walking around as many people do.
Favorite Dish: Nice Ice cream and Fantastic Local snack foods.
