Is it bar? Is it a ristorante? What is it? Beats me but I know that it's a fun place for a sit-down and serves a very decent carbonara. Fauno Bar acts more like a cafe during the day but I hear that it transforms itself into one of the hottest spots in Sorrento after dark. I wouldn't know as we're early risers who have to toddle off to bed long before the wee hours. Whatever it is, this prime piece of real estate, right on Piazza Tasso, been around since the 50's and has a reputation as THE place for dressing up to "see and be seen" in the evenings.
We had collapsed at a sunny, piazza-side table for a late-afternoon beer after a long day of sightseeing and ended up having such a good time people-watching that we decided to hang around for dinner. Typical of cafe-type Italian bars, this one carries the usual light offerings of pastries (to have with an espresso or cappuccino), sandwiches and gelato but also expands into good pizzas and pasta.
The bill will probably be a bit higher than for similar venues off the piazza but not unreasonable. It's more likely to be the bar tab vs food that'll kick the cost up but it's worth it to have a front-row seat at Sorrento's living room!
Tourist attire is fine during the day but I'd spruce up considerably for the evenings. Seating indoors or out and it's closed in November. I'm not noting a PP price as it'll vary widely depending on whether you come for coffee, drinks and/or a meal.

We both had pasta - no complaints
Being the largest and most prominate Bar in Piazza Tasso this becomes the main meeting point for many people it's not the cheapest bar in town. My mother had the most expensive Tea in sorrento here but it was nicely presented with a wide range of different tea bags and different sweeteners (and 4 lovely small cake/biscuits)
A tea, Beer and a Coke came to 14 Euro
Pizza Margherita 9.00 Euro
Tomato Salad 6:00 Euro
I had a quick aperitivo (pre-dinner drink with Campari) at Fauno Bar in Piazza Tasso. I always order uno aperitivo della casa, non troppo amaro , which is a house cocktail that is not too bitter. Service was quick and friendly, and my EUR 5 cocktail came with nuts and olives to snack on. There is great people-watching here, and convenient smoking and non-smoking sections. Try to sit as close to the street as possible, and leave a little tip for your server! Nowhere else in Italy can you get front-row seats and decent drinks for these prices!
I think they also serve food here, particularly at lunch, but I'm not totally sure. See website below for phone number.
Fauno is a bar/cafe/restaurant on Piazza Tasso, Sorrento's main square.
It is open all day and into the night and is the perfect place for a snack, a meal, or a drink and some people watching.
The food is good and there is enough on the menu to keep everyone happy
