For a great place to have dersert or coffee, you’ve got to try the “Dolce & Geleto Sorrento” Located on Corso Italia 183. Giuseppe the manager and his great and friendly staff make you feel right at home, the have one of the largest selection of Geleto I have ever seen, along with an equely large selection of Dolce (Pastries) a selection of fresh fruit and an espresso bar to match their superb service.
1.Ice Cream Shop Bouganvillea ! Since generations their main product is certainly been Ice Cream, which, just like everything on offer, is daily handmade by Nino and Gianluca Cioffi, who follow their family tradition...
2.Aurora Pizzeria -Located in Piazza Tasso, the main square of Sorrento, the Aurora Pizzeria offers a wide choice of over fifty kinds of pizza, often prepared with special base ingredients
Eating Italian ice cream should be an Olympic sport, or an extreme sport, or at least an activity that deserves a medal.
The medal is for.........choosing the right flavour, or maybe for finding the perfect combinatiuon of flavours, or perhaps even for managing to eat every single flavour in one week. Each of these is an impossible task.
I have travelled throughout Italy, but in my opinion Sorrento has the most perfect Italian ice cream, and Italy has the most perfect ice cream in the world.
I think there were thirty or so different chocolate-type flavours alone, There is a flavour for every single chocolate bar you know, and some extras to create surprises. Try the combination of one of the rich chocolate flavours with a tangy sorbet, or add some fresh fruit (though ice cream perfectionists might consider this an adulteration of the art).
Sorrento is dotted with great ice cream parlours, but my favourite was just down the road from the Grand Hotel Capodimonte.
You must shop here, they have wonderful boutiques, not too expensive. The shops are open from the morning til about 2 pm, then closed til 5pm for siesta, then opened again til 8 ot 10pm.
If you like Limoncella, a liquer made with fresh lemons and sugar, you must buy it here, it's where they make it.
You can also try some very good Italian ice-cream on the town's main square, see picture below.
