Great private tour in Sorrento!
We were on a cruise that was docking in Naples and we wanted to find a way to see Naples, Sorrento and some of the Amalfi Coast. We didn't want to do this in a large group setting and the private tours were very expensive from the ship. We made our own arrangements with Aldo Limos who met us at the dock in Naples, Italy and then we began our 8 hour tour. What a wonderful day!
We went to Sorrento where Aldo dropped us off and we were able to walk around and browse. We then proceeded to tour Positano where we were able to browse the shops. Then, we went into the hills for a lunch that was out of this world. The name of the restaurant was Trattoria La Tagliata. All of the food was prepared that day by the family. We can't begin to tell you how delicious this meal was! Everything was homemade, including the 4 different pastas and bread. We ate and then continued our tour and we ended up back in Naples with a panoramic view of the city. Aldo dropped us off back at the ship in plenty of time to board. The price was fantastic when compared to the prices charged by the ship.
Aldo is reliable, speaks English very well and wants you to have a wonderful day. We met him 8 years ago when we were in Sorrento and we took a 1/2 day tour with him. That was a fantastic tour and we thought we'd do another tour with him if he was available. Lucky for us, he operates a tour company now and he was able to provide us with a memorable and outstanding day! It was the best tour we took while on the cruise.

Naples is easy to get to, plenty to see there.
There’s a small tourist office in the Piazza Garibaldi train station – that’s the best place to get off the train from Sorrento.. You can get a free map of the town there but they don’t give them away easily. Ask for specific directions to a couple of places like a) the airport and b) the archaeological museum and they will have to mark them on the map and probably give it to you. If you just ask for a town map they’ll give you one of the historical centre only and it’s not much good.

Visit the chaotic, overcrowded, dirty and noisy town of Naples. It is the third largest city of Italy with its own charm in the shadow of the Vesuvio. Plenty of shops, markets, cafes, bars and narrow alleyways make your trip unforgettable. But always take care of your valuables!

Take a Trip into Naples
The busy Naples is only 31 miles away, you can see it across Naples Bay from Sorrento.
We didn't visit Naples this time, just drove by. Would like to visit on the next trip.
