Piazza Maggiore represents the heart of the town; its ancient buildings and glorious history make the square one of the greatest throughout Italy. It is the best possible starting point for exploring the old core of Bologna.
Fondest memory: I still remember well my first visit to Bologna, which was long ago, and the sensation I felt when getting on this square. So many beautiful buildings on the one square only cannot be seen in too many towns.
Another view of Maggiore square.
Just try to visit the city in a better day than this one, true, Bologna is eary to visit even with rain cause of its many portics, but you sure enjoy it more in a sunny day.
One of the bast place I visited in this city is Piazza Maggiore. Here there are palaces like Palazzo del Podestà or Palazzo del Municipio, the Neptune Fountain and a big church called St. Petronio.
In the first picture you saw when open this page you viewed the Palazzo del Municipio, instead this is the St. Petronio.
