Piazza del Nettuno
Favorite thing: Piazza del Nettuno is situated right next to Piazza Maggiore and it is the most vivid square in the city always crowded with locals and tourists. It is probably the best known meeting point in Bologna and resting post for visitors after long strollings around.
The square is completely open in direction of Piazza Maggiore and opposite of it to Via dell'Indipendenza, while the other two sides are closed by Palazzo Re Enzo and Palazzo della Borsa.
Fondest memory: The fountain was built by a great Flemish sculptor, Jean Boulogne De Donai called "il Giambologna", mainly to plans originally drawn up by architrct Laureati. It represents Neptune cooling down water, people from Bologna usually refer to fountain as "il gigante".
