This bar is absolutely my favourite one in Bologna. It's located just in the city center and is elegant, with candles on your table and soft lights the whole day. Furnished by an important designer from Milan, this bar will escort you from the breakfast to the after dinner.
Just a suggestion: there are many cocktails but I reccommend to choose the Grasshopher, made with cacao, milk and minth cream!
Dress Code: This is the first fashion-chic bar in Bologna. If you go there in the afternnon you don't need any special dress requirements but if you decide to stay there at night I recommend to be quite elegant.
Bologna is among the most lively cities in Italy.
I suggest you to go in the town centre, in the University area (via Moline, via Zamboni): full of nice pubs and cafès.
I am going to suggest you some places I like: some Irish and English Pubs, some Italian style pubs and cafés, and some discos. Just look at the following tips.
A nice friendly atmosphere with tremendous barstaff ..( lovely Emily ) ..and of course Guinness...
Situated just off the Piazza Maggiore this is very popular ...Give a tip and wait for the Chime !!
Dress Code: None
This pub is very nice, not so big and with wood's interior. I really liked it becuase of its strange tables: they have barrels instead of tables..lol Very original, isn't it?
Dress Code: jeans and t-shirt are ok, but if you go there on saturday, dress in an elegant way:-)
Godot Wine Bar
Riff Raff Sud Wine Bar
Well, to eat in Bologna is quite hard: that is, you can everywhere, but to eat well it's expensive. And to eat cheap there is few places (avoid fast foods and similar, please).
The best is to try a salad in some wine bar - a good choice is Godot Wine Bar, it's a nice place with good wine in the centre. Another good wine bar is Riff Raff Sud Wine Bar.
I suggest to drink a glass of wine from the blackboard, or from the weekly list.
You don't like wine? Hmmm, forget my page :)
Dress Code: Bologna is a student and business town - you can dress everything from wild punk to armani, avoid to be too chic, it would be inappropriate in most places... :)
One of the most popular nightspots in Bologna is the Cantina Bentivoglio. This was a recommendation given to us by the hotel staff. They have a large dining area and live jazz played every night. The jazz group we heard was actually quite good and played a lot of popular American jazz...both early and contemporary.
Great atmosphere and excellent wine selection!
Dress Code: Dress is jazzy casual!
I don't have a particular nightlife spot to recommand. I don't go to night club very often but I've been told that there are several good ones in the city center and outside the town as well.
As for pubs, you'll find a lot of them in Via Zamboni, Via Zaragozza and Via del Pratello. All kind of music.
For both pubs and nightclubs, the best thing is to go on the universtiy area and be careful at the numerous flyers. Obviously, the Friday and Saturday nights are the crowdy ones!!!
A Mexican themed pub that serves up magaritas in 2 liter jugs. Oh yeah and you can dance on the tables.
This was our local watering hole in Bologna. Good beer and bar snacks available. Stay away from the Harp Strong but, (10% vol).
Dress Code: Wear what you like.
