Auto Grill Store, Gas Station & Rest...

by machomikemd Updated Jun 23, 2015

There are many Autogrill Shops along the Roads and Highways of Italy aloing the Auto Rest Stops as Autogrill is an Italian Multinational Company that primarily caters to Auto Service Areas and Airports in about 40 countries around the world and they have about 50 branches all across Italy, of which we had a Stop at their branch at the Auto Rest Stop along Auto Strada 45 in Castel San Pietro Terme which was a large store with separate Self Service Restaurant, Convenience Store, Coffee House, Souvenir Store and Pay To Use Water Closets (a standard in Western Europe but not computerized lik in Austria or Germany). They have fresh foods at the Self Service Restaurant and various Items at their supersized convenience store and you won't be lacking in the sheer number of souvenir items you can buy in this Autogrill cum Store.

Opens: 6:00 am to 11:00 pm everyday

Auto Grill at Castel San Pietro Terme: Self Service Restaurant at Autogrill...

by machomikemd Updated Jun 23, 2015

Autogrill is an Italian Multinational Company that primarily caters to Auto Service Areas and Airports in about 40 countries around the world . Their Location here at Castel San Pietro Terme was a large store with separate Self Service Restaurant, the restaurant has your typical self service with different stations for the salads, sandwiches, vegetables, fruits, juices, appetizers, main course, drinks, etc and you will just get a tray and line up to where you want to get you food (depends on how many counters you go like a first course and a second course and a main course if going full italian) and then pay at the common cashier. Their selections are varied and international plus an assortment of Italian Foods as well.

the restaurant is open from 6:00 am to 11:00 am everyday

Favorite Dish: the huge italian sandwiches cost from 3.50 to 7 euros a piece, assorted breads at 1.20 euros or more, pastas at 8 euros and more, main couses at 9 euros and more drinks at 3 to 5 euros a glass and a lot more.

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is the traditional bolognese trattoria, all the family is engaged in the restaurant and the menù contains all the plates of the best local tradition. It's located in the historical center of the town. Optimal relationship quality price.

Favorite Dish: Handmade tagliolini with ham ragù ( ham sauce)
    Trotellini
    Trotelloni
    Passatelli
    Tagliata with rucola
    Castrato,..........
Traditional home made desserts ( torta di riso, cream caramel, cream brulè,.....)
Good local wine, try Cesari selection ( Liano is expensive but so good)

    Closed Saturday

Auto Grill at Castel San Pietro Terme Store: Convenience Store at Autogrill in Auto...

by machomikemd Updated Jun 23, 2015

This will be my separate tip on the convenience store of the Autogrill in Castel San Pietro Terme.

The Convenience Store of the Auto Grill here at the Auto Rest Stop in Castel San Pietro Terme is larger than normal and has many items you can find besides the usual convenience store stuffs like many National Italian and local Regional Emilia Romagna souvenir items and food ). The convenience store is big and you can do some last minute buying (before haeding south, that is if you are a tourist like us) of essential items here such as toiletries, mineral and spring water to stack up, snacks, personal care products, mints, microwaveable foods and a lot more items that you can find in a typical convenience Store.

    opens: 24/7

What to buy: You better buy your needed supplies and food stuffs and drinks at the convenience store as buying them at the hotel stores are more expensive. all the necessary items you can find in a typical convenience store but their place is larger and you can buy souvenir items as well and evel the portable travel pillows that are popular plus form smart phone accessories like phone guard or USB Connector, tablet screen protector and more

What to pay: not a dent on your wallet

    Free Use of Water Closets

by machomikemd Written Jun 23, 2015

Favorite thing: Having been to many Auto Rest Stops all around western europe and all of them where pay to use except in Slovenia and it was my pleasant surprise that the Water Closets here at the Auto Grill Auto Rest Stop in Castel San Pietro Terme was absolutely FREE (I had stopped in one of their autorest stops of Auto Grill in Austria and the water closet there was pay to use) and even though they are free, they are well maintained. This was a rarity in Western Europe hence maybe the place is crowded with many travellers, both locals and foreign tourists like us.

Fondest memory: free use oif water closet

no need to pay the cassa (cashier) for toilet use
