    enjoy the beach

by uglyscot Updated Jan 13, 2010

As it was off season when we went to Riccione, the beach was fairly empty, so the children enjoyed building castles and digging holes. However there was a small cafe which was open, so my parents were able to get a cup of coffee.

Riccione Restaurants

  • Lo sfizioso

I love it !Friendly atmosphere, I have only been there once but I have eaten food from all menu and more, the reason why I have not been there in person is that my dad used to ride his bike to Lo sfizioso and get food for all the family..I think the best dishes are the fish one, such as Zuppa di pesce (fish soup), gamberi saltati con rucola (fesh...

  • the beer factory

This is a steak house in the center of Riccione, specialized in producing beer by itself. HOPS! is the right place where to have a good dinner in a very nice atmosphere, close to the harbour of Riccione and in the middle of the touristic part of the town. Beer, of course, for drinking. About food, the salads are special and served in big size!...

  • best seafood rest - in...

best seafood rest - in riccione (just south of rimini) was Azzurra! awesome food, but a bit expensive. Right on the beach though. Pleasant setting, beautiful interior - if you go mid week you can have a quite wonderful dinner overlooking the adriatic.quality of food and location. The have a 'cold platter' of various fish appetizers - served on this...

Riccione Nightlife

  • Around the Marina

The Marina by day is a pleasant place to visit, as it is always nice to see the boats. The area is a centre of night time activity as there are a number of hotels and bars in the area.

  • Nightlife on the Beach

In the last few years Riccione has set a new trend for the nightlife. On the Marano's beach (a place between Rimini and Riccione) a lot of new options to spend the night are born. From the original "Beach Cafè" several new nightclup opened the list include: A/B soul (nice but expensive and empty), Hakuna Matata (best day wednesday ), Beach Paradise...

Riccione Warnings and Dangers

  • Non Italian food/restaurants are rare

There are very few restaurant that serve anything else than italian, so if you are tired of pizza, pasta ect., there is not much else to eat. We tried to find a mexican restaurant, but when we found it, there were nothing left of it :-(

  • beware the lizards...

At the end of the coast, on the rocks, you'll find a lot of lizards... very impressive if one of them touch you ;-)

  • Don't Forget Insurance

If your current health insurance doesn't cover you while your abroad, you should consider getting international travel insurance just in case something should go wrong.

I visited the Acquafun-water park during my last visit to Riccione! It was so much fun! No matter how old you are, you will sure enjoy it! And if you're not so much into pools and slides, just relax sunbathing!!!!

Riccione Favorites

  • Suited for tour package travel

by morio Written Dec 17, 2007

Favorite thing: I have lived in Italy for 15 years and have always taken my holidays in Italy to see different areas. Unfortunately Riccione is better suited for someone on a package tour. Hotel are pushing the food plus lodging package and that has limited the restaurants in the area. There are a few very good ones but one needs a car to get out and find other good restauants. The town is down in heels and needs a face lift. This is sad because this was not the situation years ago. Also beware that many of the hotel cater to the bus trade especially Alexandra Plaza (part of the Fascioli group of hotels so be aware)which is advertised on the internet with photos that are doctored. It is definitly a bad hotel with poor management. We booked using the net but after a few days checked out and went elsewhere. I am not surprised that hotel doesn't show up on the list here. My husband is Italian and I think he was shocked at what he found in Riccione. The town needs to clean up its act.

Fondest memory: Sadly this trip there are not good memories. Some years ago it was a lovely beach resort now it is just a run down beach town.
