Rimini Airport is a small comercial aiport joined in with an active military base. It's braight and cheerful and has a few basic services. The most important thing is that it is served by a variety of budget airlines from across Europe. The link below is the airport's webpage showing the airlines that fly here.
Inside the terminal you will find a snack bar on both sides of security, an expensive 'Duty Free' shop, ATM's, a Tourist Information office and a bank. The local bus and taxis are just out front. Not a big place, but it does the job.

We found a reference to this airline one day on the forum here. They were mentioned as being very competitively priced. We had already been away once in the early summer of 2003 and had no intention of going away again but when we saw these prices.....well what could we do BUT book!!
The only negative thing about the airline, and that is not really negative if you are prepared, is that you cannot reserve seats, it is a first come onboard, first to choose the seats basis.
The great thing about Rimini Airport is its size...it is so small. When we came home, at midday on a friday, our plane was the only plane leaving the airport until about 4pm, so the only passengers at the check in and departure lounge were the ones on our plane! mmmmm but I am afraid that did not stop people pushing and shoving in an effort to get their desired seats.

Rimini has a small airport close to the beach area, southeast to the town. It is served by a hand full of airlines, including low fare airlines such as Easyjet and Air Berlin. If you are looking for very cheap fares, you may also consider flying with Ryanair to Forlí, Ancona or even Bergamo and then continuing your journey by train (which is very cheap in Italy). Check out my Forlí page to find out how to get from Forlí Airport to Forlí’s central train station.

I travelled to Rimini from London Heathrow via Munich. Sadly between Lufthansa and Air Dolomiti they lost my luggage. It arrived two days after I arrived out of a four day trip.

Bus/Car connection is definitely the best.
I believe there are also some domestic flights to Rimini as well, but you risk not to see a lot of country beauty if you take a flight.
I did not either try the ship connections, but they definitely must exist.
You can use a car. You can just go walking along the sea-cost or several streets that are aprallel to sea line. Or you can hire a motoroller, or bicycle (with either two or four wheels). I also tried a four-wheel bicycle and I found it a very exciting experience to drive it.

Car, train, airplane, boat.
If you are coming from Bergamo do NOT travel by the train called 'la freccia orobica'. It takes SIX hours from Bergamo to Rimini. You can use that train if you are specifically interested in studying grandmothers travelling with grandsons/daughters.

The most common way to go around the town is the bycicle, Riminese go by bycicle all the year.
