The lovely town of Bordano is home of the world famous "Bordano Butterfly House", which I visited at the beginning of April, 2007. I enjoyed my visit very much!!
The tropical gardens of the Bordano Butterfly House lie right in the heart of Friuli, in the spectacular Alps mountains. Thousands of free flying butterflies leads the visitators on a journey throughout the Amazonas, the rich Asian rainforests and the African jungles.
In addition to the greenhouses, that cover about 1000 square metres, there is a teaching centre with labs, a video room and educational video games, which are of course beloved by childern. A whole section concerns colours, with butterflies revealing the secrets of their language. Apart from butterflies, visitors can see other exotic animals such as colorful birds, uncommon frogs, funny turtles and strange fish. There is also a "Mimicry Living Museum" where visitors discover how plants and animals deceive to survive.
