Viale Tolmezzo
solopes Says:
From the church to Piazza de la Fontana, the pedestrian commercial street changes its name to Tolmezzo. The same pattern, the same look, the same activity that extends from Piazza de la Fontana to Viale centrale. It was a little far from our hotel, so, I only was forced to...
Piazza Abbazia
solopes Says:
We were driving from Bologna to Slovenia, when I decided to stop in Lignano and ask in the hotel to keep our dancing costumes until our return to stay, three days later. It was planned to be a 5 minutes stop, to arrive not too late at Bohinj lake. When we arrived, Fernanda...
Viale Venezia
solopes Says:
All my stay in Lignano was lived around this pedestrian street, that makes part of the commercial axis of town. Stretching from Piazza Abbazia and the church, it was the closest to our hotel, and each day (three times a day, to be honest) Fernanda counted the shops and...
Laguna
solopes Says:
I tried to do a trip across the laguna to Grado, but couldn't do it. I thought that there were regular connections along the day, but I was wrong - there's a boat that makes one trip in the morning along the lagoon, and another one in the afternoon to Grado, And that's all....
Massage
solopes Says:
There were not many sellers in the beach, but we were surprised by a few Thai ladies offering... Thai massage. Fernanda couldn't resist (of course!), and in two successive days tried two different experts. Was it good? Sure! Which one was the best? No idea, but both tried to...
Hotel Al Prater
1 Review and 0 Opinions I think that I never read comments about a hotel with such unanimity - it was very good. Even in 5...
Ristorante Agosti: Occhio alla coda (look at the line)
GUYON Says:
We targeted this restaurant seeing the long line waiting at the entrance from 7:30 PM.We did not be disapointed and we were delighted by the food and by the price. We ate there several times during 7 stays (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012).Reservation is...
Agosti: Expensive
solopes Says:
Entering this restaurant I expecting something... great! Most tables were reserved, and the restaurant looked nice. A promise.Well, I have nothing to complaint, it was a normal dinner, the prices for the food were normal, but the same didn't happen with the drinks - 3 € for a...
European Masters Games: Private party
solopes Says:
Some sports events provide extra animation, and that could be a good chance for a different night in a calm city. The European Masters Games made two parties, one at the opening, in the beach and the final one at the sports centre. We were not present in the first one, but...
Viale Venezia: Night stroll
solopes Says:
There is not much to do and see at night in Lignano, so, the common night occupation is walking in the main commercial street, stopping for a drink in the many restaurants and bars. Near the church it is possible to listen to some music, performed by street artists. For a...
Trip from Paris to Lignano
GUYON Says:
In 2012, we have changed our travel policy to reach Lignano. We take the plane early in morning to fly to Venice 1:40 and then we have reserved a taxi. There was some construction work on the highway so the journey lasted 2 hours with a driver who was not affraid by the...
Trip to Venice
Andreja86 Says:
You can buy 1-day tickets to Venice which cost € 22,5 (2010 price) from ATVO. It includes bus from Lignano Sabbiadoro or Lignano Pineta to Punta Sabbioni (2 hours), and boat from Punta Sabbioni to Venice center (45 mins). This trip is non guided and is highly recommended. You...
Palmanova Outlet Village: A distant mall
solopes Says:
Vacation for Fernanda means... shopping (as a matter of fact everything means shopping for her...), and I tried to find a suitable program in Lignano. Well, it was not easy - it is a beach, and the local commerce reflects it. However, in all the ways to and from Lignano...
Salumeria da Luciano: Great image
solopes Says:
No, I didn't buy anything there (I didn't buy food out of restaurants, otherwise I would), but couldn't resist to stop and look, each time I passed in front of the shop - several times a day.I don't know what is the strongest reason to attract people - maybe the very large...
The dog beach
GUYON Says:
The beaches are prohibited for dogs and animals. But at Lignano Sabbiadoro East, the dogs have their own beach in which they are allowed to stay if they are kept on the leash. May I bring my rothweiller ?
Try the Chinotto
GUYON Says:
I never found the Chinotto outside Italy. It is a soda made with chemical products an especially, the quinine. Its flavor is bitter and surprising.I know my description does not promote the Chinotto but I suggest you try : it is very surprising and in any case better than the...
Too good pastries
GUYON Says:
Pay attention to the Italian pastry, you risk to take some pounds if you abuse. The Italian breakfast with a soft bread and a pastry is delitfull. It's the trap. The right address : Panificio Gobatto - Via del Bosco & Via Miramare open at 7AM (but they are late each morning)
Parking
solopes Says:
Parking in Lignano is not easy nor cheap - large forbidden extensions and the streets near the beach have parking meter, with short term control and high prices. Most hotels have reserved parking, and that must be a point to consider when booking. Our hotel - El Prater - had...
Do not forget
Luggage and bags: Avoid heavy luggages : often, the hotels and buildings have no elevator.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Shirts or T shirt are compulsory in the streets and you must be protected against sun.
If you forget your sun glasses, you will easily buy them at Lignano.
Bring also a beach towel (except if the hotel gives you one) because the sand can be very hot on the afternoon.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Moskito repellant (but you can buy it "alla farmacia")
You can forget the hairdryer. First because, there is one in the room or in the appartment. Second, because the air is dry and so the hair dryer is not really usefull.
Photo Equipment: Do not forget the UV lence (the days are sunny) and the flash (to shoot photographes when you stroll by the streets at night)
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Bathing suit with or without bra (in the North of Italy, there is no real concern).
If you wish to go to a free beach do not forget your umbrella and your tongs if you wish to put your feet on the sand.
If your hotel has a pool, the bathing cap can be compulsory. So, do not forget "la cuffia".
Miscellaneous: If you rent an appartment, bring a frying pan (they always forget to put one) and if you are French have bowls (Italians use cups).
If you want to put a pizza in your oven, bring the oven : it misses in all the appartments (may be, for the benefit of the surrounding restaurants)
A sun screen for the car even it is AC equiped

European Masters Games
solopes Says:
I read that Lignano Sabiaddoro is a beach that attracts using an extra argument - sports. With large and good sportive facilities, several sportive events of all kinds take place in town, giving life to it. As a matter of fact, I would never go to Lignano Sabbiadoro, if it...
Beach
GUYON Says:
What are the main features of Lignano beaches :- they are long and large- the sand is fine and yellow, rather clean- the beaches are equiped with deckchairs and sun umbrellas (see tariff 2012 on the last picture)- there is no tide and you can bath everytime- the depth of the...
