This small beach is situated nearby the entrance at the Castle of Miramare. It is, as far as I am concerned, the most beautiful beach resorts in whole area of Trieste, and the water is pretty clean here.
Equipment:
I suppose it was the favorite beach resort of the Royal Hapsburg family.
Trieste has their own soccer (futbol) team Triestina. They are in Seria B, the second level of soccer in Italy. They play their games at the realatively new stadium, Stadio Nereo Rocco. The stadium holds about 30,000 people, though you won't have a problem getting a seat minutes before the start of the game. The games are spitied and the Trieste people root for their team passionately. I had the chance to take in the Venezia-Triestina game; basically the rivalry game for both, as they both hate each other. It was a great game that ended in a 1-1 tie.
The part of the coast called Riviera di Barcola runs bellow the lighthouse Faro della Vittoria. It is splendid promenade and one of the favourite and most frequented parts of the town. In the summer season, it is the favorite beach resorts of the locals. Besides, here you can find finest restaurants of the town.
There are several choices to enjoy a fantastic view over the sea and Trieste. The Strada Napoleonica run from the terraced square near Opicina Obelisk to a parking near Prosecco village. It consist in a little less than 4 Km and it is run on the edge of the Carsic cliff over the sea. It is a easy trail, wide and not steep and with a leveled ground.
Another option is to take the Nicolo Cobolli trail that start from the same spot at Opicina Obelisk square and run along the same track, just a little higher and completely surrounded by tree.
They both offer wonderful view over the gulf.
Equipment:
Sturdy shoes, plenty of water during the hot season, sunscreen.
In the winter there is a little nice ice rink in piazza Ponterosso.
I thought it was a place suitable for kids, but I also spotted some adults there.
Equipment:
You can take your skates along or rent a pair of these.
This kind of sport is for a true man, you have to walk long the jetty "molo audace" during Bora period....
The purpose of this sport is don't fall in the sea during the gust and sea-water throws to you by the wind Bora.
Among beauties for which Trieste is known, there is also the particularity of its ground.
Down our feet there are lots and lots of natural caves, some huge, others very small.
If you are curious to descover the beauty of the underground try to contact one of these association, maybe you can find someone taking you down.
But pay attention, you must be healthy..it's not a game..it's nature and sometimes it can be very rude and bad!!
