If you're lost ask for help at a hotel

by fdrich29

On our 17 day honeymoon in Italy and Sicily we found ourselves lost a handful of times. I was able to get very good directions from hotels, even if it was to a different hotel. They always had someone working who could speak English and knew their city and the surrounding area very well. They never rushed and gave good, detailed directions, usually handing me a map that they marked up as well. If it wasn't for the hotels giving us directions we'd still be driving around Firenze trying to find Hotel Cavour.

Here are the most preferred suggestions: Arranging a Papal Audience by Telephone through the Prefecture of the Pontifical House of the Vatican City: Tel: 011-39-06-698-83017 Arranging a Papal Audience via a Web FormSanta Susanna, home of the American Catholic Church in Rome, offers a means of aquiring tickets to Papal Masses and Papal Audiences by filling out a web form well in advance of your trip to Rome. Travel Season

by Jmill42

While there is no bad time to travel to Italy, certain months are ideal. Fall is my favorite time in Italy. With tolerable temperatures, locals back from their August holidays, fewer tourists and cheaper prices, this is my prime time. Summer is packed with tourists, creating huge lines at the attractions on top of the fact that it can get swelteringly hot. August is when most Italians take their holiday, so you might find fewer of the shops open. I have experience, summer, fall and winter in Italy, so I can't speak for sure about Spring, but I would imagine it is rather simialr to fall. Whatever time you come, it will be great, but you should understand the drawbacks of each!

bella bella

The Neapolitan Riviera - Sorrento is an enchanting town, perched high on a cliff and surrounded by deep ravines. Its spectacular location has lured visitors since the early 19th century and, today, it is a fabulous place to immerse yourself in the southern Italian way of life. The Neapolitan Riviera must be one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. Look out to sea and you'll find fabulous views of the island of Ischia and of Mount Vesuvius. Neapolitan food is particularly good, with plenty of fresh seafood, but if you prefer pasta and pizzas, you won't be disappointed - the pizza originated in this region and they are renowned for being the best in the world. Do remember to round of any meal with the locally made ice cream which without doubt certainly is the best in the world. There's plenty to do at night time as the night usually begins with a gentle stroll around the...

Lago di Como

by croisbeauty

Lago di Como is, I suppose so, the most northern lake of Italy situated very close to the border with Switzerland. First time I've visited it many years ago, making a round tour of lake, and I still remember plenty of beautiful villas I saw. The whole lake is considered as a well fare area, one of the richest in Italy. Besides tourism, area of Como is known for its fine wines and silk fabrics production which is, unfortunatelly, very reduced recently. The best ties you can buy are made of fabrics originated from Como.

Lago Maggiore

by croisbeauty

Lago Maggiore is situated in the most northern part of Italy, about 70km north of Milano. The lake is not too big and you can do it, all around, in one day only if driving ba car. The western part of the lake is more attractive with some very beautiful destinations which are a must see when in area. Do not miss to see Angera and its fabulous castle, the small town of Arona, which is rich of historic sights and two small islands situated right in front of Stresa, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Bella.

Lago di Garda

LAGO DI GARDAYou don't like taste of SALT in the water, make you ......, but you like swiming, surfing, boating, Lago di Garda is right place to spend your summer holidays.Sirmione (see picture), Lazise, Peschiera, Dessenzano, Borgolino are nice places to stay. My tip: go around lake see all this lovely places and than make decission where to stay. My preference is Lazise. There you can find small hotels, pleanty of restaurants (no need to wait for empty chair), camping, dancing, and lots of other amusemants. Seating in a small cute restaurant, eating delicious food, drinking fine Italian wines, sipping Amaretto di Saronno as digestivo and finished all with good espresso.
