Why not spending part of your leisure time in a bar, as most people use to do? I would suggest the hottest hours in early afternoon, or/and the fresh time before dinner (well, dinnertime is to be intened under local timing... 9/10 pm).
I had a nice experience at Liberty Cafe in Corso Umberto, right in the centre, along the main avenue.
