Itri , is situated approximately halfway between Rome and Naples.
There are regular flights to Rome airports,
( Ciampino and Fiumicino ) and to Naples ( Capodichino ).
Most budget carriers tend to fly to Rome Ciampino.
Many visitors to Itri have found this very convenient as it is a smaller airport than Fiumicino and to the South of the city.
If you wish to hire a car for the duration of your stay, discounted car hire is offered by most airlines, via the internet or available from the airport. We have used www.expedia.co.uk in the past, and were happy with their service.
If you decide to pick up a hire car at the airport, we can provide you with easy to follow directions. The journey to Itri is pretty straightforward.
Alternatively you can hire a car locally.
We would recommend a company called
SIXT ,
we found them to be reasonably priced and good. They have an office in Gaeta.
Address: Piazza Villa delle Sirene, 04024 Gaeta, (LT) Lazio
Tel: 0771 741636 Fax: 0771 451359 SIXT website: www.sixt.it
The man there "Mauro Picano" speaks English, which is also helpful.
There are however good public transport links from Ciampino / Fiumicino to Itri, via Rome Termini Train Station.
We recommend Terravision for transport to and from Rome airports and Central Rome and Temini Train Station -
Their Website is: www.terravision.it
This site gives timetables for trains. www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html
Look for trains from Rome Termini to Formia or Fondi , only slower trains stop at Itri Station . Trains run regularly and tickets are very reasonably priced.
From Itri it is easy to travel by train to Rome or Naples.
The local bus services are good and run frequently.

Its hard to buy decent tea bags here - they make a very weak, watery cuppa !!!

The rocky coastline and formidable limestone cliffs near Sperlonga are extremely popular with Rock Climbers, particularly those passionate about the sport of FREE CLIMBING.
Equipment: Free Climbers use no artificial aids to make upwards progress.

Favorite thing: Itri is a great place to get away from the crowds and hubbub of the local seaside resorts, but is still near enough to be able to take advantage of the beautiful nearby golden sandy beaches at Sperlonga and along the Rivierra D'Ullise.
It has the best of both worlds:
Peace, Countryside, Mountain Scenery, Sun, Sea and Sand.
We love it here !!! We liked it so much that we moved to live here !!! .

Fondest memory: The people are warm and friendly.
The scenery is spectacular.
The food is just delicious.
There is so much to see and do in this largely undiscovered area of Italy.
