After a long day in Rome we returned to Fiuggi tired and hungry. We walked and shopped a little. Then we found a small restaurant at the corner of two main streets. It has a bar inside and has some tables in the garden. Also there is a night club under this restaurant.

I ordered a pizza, as usual, and we all drunk some red vine. The staff was very helpful and pleasant and the food was delicious.

Fiuggi Shopping

  • by fiuggina Updated May 4, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There are numerous supermakets in the town selling Italian specialities and international brand names.
If you are staying in a self catering apartment you should be able to find almost everthing you need in the supermarkets.
Remember some shops close in the afternoon from 1p.-4pm.

What to buy: Amaretti biscuits and Cesanese wine are local products.

What to pay: By law you will be given a till receipt on purchase of all goods, either in shops or bars.
This will tell you what you have bought and the price.

Fiuggi Warnings and Dangers

  • WEATHER

I think the person who complained of the cold must have been unlucky. I stayed in the 'new' town last week and it was 30 degrees centigrade at midnight one night!. There seem to be two clearly defined areas in Fiuggi, the 'new' section around the marvellous Boniface Spa & the beautiful historic area sited higher up in the hills. You really need some...

  • An ideal climate

It is very sad to read Ozalf’s comments on her short stay in Fiuggi. If I am not mistaken she was with a group on a coach tour visiting Rome? For 3 days?I know Fiuggi very well, and I can assure travellers that it is a charming Italian town.Perhaps on a couch tour visitors are only able to explore a limited area of the town and only in the evenings...

  • Shops close for the siesta

In most towns including Fiuggi everything closes down from 13-00 pm. until 16.00 pm.Or it could be 13.30 until 16.30.In Rome City Centre most shops stay open all day.The reason for this is people don’t usually go out unless it is necessary in the heat of the day. MARKET DAY is a Thursday morning in the old town, plenty of bars with tables outside...
