These three sites should be visited on the same day as they're in the same area and covered by one ticket price. To avoid the frustratingly long lines at the Colosseum, buy your combo ticket at the Palatine Hill ticket office (probably the shortest line) on Via di S. Gregorio 30. You can then choose to visit the sites in any order you wish. As many...

I would highly reccommend you do a tour for these places. The convience alone is worth the extra money. You don't have to wait in long lines and once your in there you can always give the guide your headphones and walk around on your own. I personally thought the Roman Forum was the best. The information was amazing. I miss the food. It was...

    Rome Favorites

We went to the Colosseum early in the morning, so we enjoyed our visit to the place better. There are no tourists around the first two hours when we were there. Before the gates were opened, we had time to check the grounds of the Colosseum- just walking around the structure. We went to the Forum also and we enjoyed seeing all the things that were...

1° avoid restaurants where the waiters are soliciting tourists onto their terrace. Now it is necessary to distinguish between soliciting the tourist and a pleasant welcome to the traveller looking at the menu. 2° avoid the restaurants with large terraces with too well set tables and well dressed quadrilingual waiters. 3° check that they serve...

The Roma Pass is a good idea because it includes transportation too. I used it to see the Colosseum + Foro Romano, the Museum of Modern Art (not worth it) and I don't remember what else right now. I wanted to see Galleria Borghese but for that one must book in advance. For the Foro it's worth buying a guide book or better yet taking a guided tour...

    Rome Favorites

In my four days stay, I never visited Piazza Venezia in the morning hours, funny but truth. The white marble of the monument must be in particularly attractive under the bright sunny day light. Well, I will have to make it up during next visit hoping to have nice weather conditions and plenty of sun.

If you visit Rome then dont forget to see this street. We had a great time here. Only because of time constraint we had to leave the place :-( The fountain, noise of the gushing water, a lady with guitar singing some romantic songs, aroma of the pizza from the restaurants and the yummy Gelato. The place was really a must see. Do not miss this...

To visit the Interior of Hadrians Mausoleum you first go down a slope to the lower levels and then gradually climb up the levels whilst circling around various courtyards. In the courtyards too there are some lovely features like this angel statue. There is also a restaurant up here and is a great place for a snack or drink.

I just love to admire this fascinating place. It's impressive once you enter and see the day light coming from a central hole on the roof. I would recommend you to sit in one of the bar's terraces of the piazza della rotonda to admire Pantheon while sipping your favourite drink. It's especially nice during summer evenings.

All the piazzas in Rome are magnets for people. You won't see many people if you take a stroll at 5:00 am in the morning. Piazza del Popolo was a 5 minute walk from the Hotel Dei Mellini, and is one of the gateways to Villa Borghese, Rome's counterpart to Central Park.

These baths are the most imposing monument of ancient Rome which one can see nowadays. While checking this out I was wondering about doors..........did they have doors and what were they made of. Probably timber do you think? Maybe they didn't have doors in those days. Anyway it makes me wonder. I really miss the opportunities to see all of these ancient buildings and to wonder about how they lived in those times.
