Walking with some ancestors?

I would take you to Castel S Angelo AKA Hadrian's Mausoleum, where you could soak up its history and atmosphere, paintings, weapons of war then up onto the roof to get an almost 360 degree look at the rooftops of Rome, S Peters and a few bridges. If you are anything like me you would be rapt.
Lazio is not just Rome, so that is what I miss most, ie. the fact that you can just about have it all in the one area. You can soak up the history, go to the opera, enjoy the night life and lights, visit heaps of churches and castles, have a beach resort holiday, walk through the mountains, study the flora and fauna.........really it has everything all in the one package. PS, it does snow on occasions too but I am not familiar with this aspect or whereabouts you might be able to ski.......probably north of Rome.
