Electricity

by sim1

In case you want to bring any electrical appliances with you, here is the system Italy uses : 230 volts and 50 Hz. It is a "Schuko" plug and receptable with side grounding contacts (see picture)An adapter will allow you to plug an appliance designed for one type of outlet into another type of outlet. Despite the fact that more than a dozen different types of plugs are in use, a typical travel adapter kit usually contains about five adapters which are capable of dealing with most of the outlets shown here. Adapters often manage this versatility by bypassing the ground/earth wire.Beware : an adapter by itself will not change the electrical voltage. You must be sure that your appliance can handle different voltages (either automatically or through a voltage switch). If it can't, you will need a voltage converter.

However, I find that I do a lot of walking in Italy especially around those towns and villages that have ancient roman ruins. So, a bum bag would be a handy extra for Gaeta. Pack your swimmers because the water will get to you.....definitely pack 30 + if you are fair like me because there is little shade unless you walk up mount orlando which is part of a national park and very shady on the way. Comfy walking shoes but with plenty of grip if you go off the beaten path. 30+, 30+, 30+ Your best camera, tripod and those lenses that you like to use ................ I don't know anything about digital cameras so you will know what you need to take. Swimmers, towel and hat. Gaeta was the only place that I ran out of money and couldn't find an outside teller...........sooooooooooo carry some.
