Favorite thing: The Colosseum
(More pics are in Travelogue ^^)
Fondest memory: It's a symbol of Rome.
Also it's my first station in Rome. When I got out of the subway station and tried to find its exact location on the map, I suddenly saw it standing before my eyes just on the other side of the street!
It's silent, silent as me that moment. Time stops, no, time is frozen in those huge stones.
When I go over the steep, dark stairs; when I touch the colums standing there more than one thousand years; when I stared grass waving in the gap of wall...
how can I imagine its glorious time?
There must have had thousands of people, crowded in it, yielded, emotionally, crazily... However, all secens had disappeared in the wind of time. Only left itself, silently.
Is it recalling its glorious past?

Favorite thing: You must visit the Colosseum and Forum. Take a tour of the Forum if possible. We stumbled onto a free English tour. This provides a great history lesson and makes what you are seeing come alive!
Fondest memory: The gelato! Stop by a Blue Ice gelato shop and try as many flavors as possible. Some of the shops are located at: Via delle Muratte, 18 (near Trevi Fountain), Via dei Baullari, 141 (Campo de'Fiori), and Via Gaicomo Bove, 28 (Piramide).

Favorite thing: TO VISIT ARCH OF CONSTANTINE.
Another sort of memorial building is arch. The picture I took from Colosseo shows the Arch of Constantine¡ªanother great ruler of Rome Empire.
This Arch is the largest and best preserved in the three remaining in Rome. Several pieces of historical relics of Trajan, Hardrian and Marcus Aurelius were removed to this Arch. So it is a monument of great worth.

Favorite thing: COLOSSEO
If you never been to Rome, absolutely the place you must visit first is COLOSSEO. I think it is one of the most famous heritage of the world. More interesting thing is that a ruin older than Colosseo was found below the site that Spartacus, the leader in a war against Rome, fought at.

Fondest memory: Met Tong Pei Hua (1st one on the right) from China and two of her friends at Vatican, since one of her friend (2nd on the right) is studying in Rome for his Roman history doctorate degree, he took us on a whirlwind walking tour of Rome, we not only need to catch up in speed and also in historical knowledge.

Favorite thing: Who can forget the Colosseum? The Colosseum was built between 72 and 80 A.D. and was the dying place of over 9000 animals and numerous gladiators in the first 100 days alone. Many Christians were also Martyred here.
Fondest memory: Probably a combination of the people I met at the Pensione Allesandro and the area of the Spanish Steps and Fountain de Trevi. I will give each of these memories their own section.

Favorite thing: COLOSSEO / COLOSSEUM
The Colosseum is arguably ancient Rome's most famous building. This massive structure, with arch upon arch reaching 48m (157ft) into the air and measuring 190m by 155m (620ft by 513ft), used to hold up to 50,000 boisterous Roman citizens. Opened in AD 80 by Emperor Titus in a ceremony that included 100 days of games, the Colosseum played host to Rome's favourite spectator sports - gladiatorial contests, combats between men and wild animals and even mock naval battles. Such sports were outlawed in the fifth century AD, and only the shell remains, along with a view down to the passages through which slaves and animals were led before entering into battle. Unlike other Roman amphitheatres that are dug into hillsides, the Colosseum is a free-standing structure of stone and concrete and has long served as a model for stadia around the world.

Emperor Vespasianus commissioned building Rome's biggest amphitheater in 72 A.D. At that time there were 80 entrances and could accomodate 55,000 people.
Fondest memory: All the beautiful buildings from the Roman Empire. It is fantastic to see what things they already could built more then 2000 years ago.
Imagine you had to built the Colloseum, without help of the tools and machines we have nowadays.
