Favorite thing: I loved the fountains in the piazza. This fountain, in the northern part of the square, was restored by Bernini but remained for three hundred years without statues and decoration. In 1873 Antonio Della Bitta won the competition to carve the statue of Neptune, whilst Gregorio ZappalĂ carved the group aroun the basin: sea-horses, mermaids and putti playing with the dolphins. Work was completed in 1878.

Favorite thing: As well as the ambience of this popular square the thee fountains are wonderful pieces of art to admire.:
the central Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi by Bernini
Fontana del Moro at the southern end and the 19th century Fontana del Nettuno at the other end.

Favorite thing: The most beautiful and vast of Rome's piazza's is lined with baroque palaces and 3 fountains. It is laid out in the ruins of the stadium built by Domitian.
Fondest memory: Sitting around one of the fountains, just people watching and basking in the warm sunshine, munching on a slab of pizza.

Favorite thing: This is one of my better half's favourite places to wander around. It features two lovely 17th century fountains by Borromini and Bernini and is surrounded by 16th century palaces. There are some nice shops and trendy (read: expensive) cafes along with the usual buskers and pickpockets. It is a nice place to visit in the evening time, too.

Fondest memory: This is a beautiful square surrounded by imposing buildings and topped off by a marvelous fountain in the centre. The centre fountain depicts four of the world's great rivers - each one personified. This picture is of a smaller, yet no less romantic, fountain at the northern end of the Piazza. In the afternoon the place is full of side-walk vendors selling arts and crafts. There are lots of people who paint in the square as well at that time.

Favorite thing: Sit outside and enjoy Piazza Navona while having something good to eat whether at night or during the day...at night it's more romantic but during the day it's more alive with people walking around and artists painting.

Fondest memory: The performers in Piazza Navona. One night, I was on my own in Rome, and spent my night in Piazza Navona. There were scores of extremely talented performance artists. I remember a man who played the traditional Italian songs with his classical guitar, a puppeteer (pictured), bongo dummers, a juggling comedian/clown, mordern dance artists and MUCH MORE, all on one night! In addition you could spent hours watching portrait artists draw - it was so good, I didn't want to leave but it was getting late and I WAS alone!

Fondest memory: Hanging out for hours in a cafe Piazza Navona, sipping on iced coffee and beer. It is a great place for people watching and soaking in the Roman atmosphere. It is lively both by day and by night. I was entertained by scores of entertainment artists busking on the street, who were all so talented. Great to watch by night. Piazza Navona is also the best place in Rome to get a portrait drawing done if you want it! I was more content to watch the artisans at work - some are extremely talented!

Favorite thing: One of the neat things about Italian cities in general and Rome in particular is that you wander through these narrow canyon-like streets when suddenly they open up to show a treasure like: The Pantheon, the Piazza Navona, the Trevi fountain. This treasure is the Piazza Navona. It's full of artists, children, balloons, lots of people. Just wonderful.
