by CTnightowl This seemed to me to be the hub of Rome nightlife. Lots of bars and all of them fun. I forget names of specific places. I do recall though- you must use the bathroom at Jonathons Angels. Trust me on this- its the most famous bathroom in all of Rome! Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and Drinking

I'm trying to remember how much this place was... I'm remembering a cool 10-20 euro for a place that was pretty much empty. But, you may, like us, decide that you're willing to fork it out for a once-in-a-lifetime place like this: a bar made entirely of ice, kept at -5 C. Walls, bar, benches, tables, the glasses, ice sculptures, the works. You get a thermal cape and gloves to help keep you warm. The benches are draped in white sheep skins for a luxurious feel. The ice sculpture at the bar is carved out with a path to pour your shot in and a straw out one side should you be so daring. The cover gets you a margarita-sized drink from their fun selection in an ice glass. Not sure how full the bar is othewise. This place seemed more for groups of Americans to freak out for 15 minutes till too cold to stay. A TV in the lobby shows you the other fools that are in where you are about to enter; if you're looking for nightlife, check it to see if there's anyone worth going in for.
Bundle up! The thermal cape is only a cape! Theme: NightclubAddress: Via della Madonna dei Monti 17-19. Rome.Phone: 06 97 84 55 81Directions: Off Via Cavo heading down Via del Fori Imperiali from the Collosseum toward the Forum.

Piazza di Spagna by AndreSTGT Ok, so this pic is not from Monte Testaccio, but it's the only 'rome by night' pic i took. Anyway, when it comes to nightlife Testaccio is THE happening place in Rome. It's a rather dilapitated neighborhood in the southern part of town (around the old abbatoire) which gives the area a slightly Bohemian feel, but Testaccio offers options for all tastes and wallets. From ultra chic music bars with nasty bouncers to alternative open-air clubs, from fancy eateries to 'world music'-cafιs.

If you are in Rome you cannot miss its typical squares, such as Piazza Navona. Life in this Roman Piazza starts very early and goes on til the early morning hours. Both in Summer or Winter (if the weather permits) a stroll on Piazza Navona is a must. Bernini's fountains by night look so enchanted and there's almost always someone taking pictures of these fountains. The oil painters are usually also there at night so that one can admire their talents and maybe buy one of their paintings to take home. The outdoor Cafe and Restaurants are very nice and one can taste Roman food or Ice Creams while enjoying the atmosphere at Piazza Navona or listening to the street singers, singing lovely Roman songs.
Anything you want but the Cafes and the Restaurants are quite Chic where I suggest tourists to wear casual smart. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Piazza Navona

by AlexDJ Radio Londra attracts since 10 years a unique crowd of people who express themselves in any number of ways, including outlandish clothing and body piercings. The music is vibrant, and the crowd is vivacious. Four nights a week, Radio Londra usually sponsors live music, and sometimes bands entertain at the pub and pizzeria located above the dance floors. Radio Londra is found in a bunker dug out of a hill, with military style furnishings and fighting equipment hung up everywhere. Piazza Trillusa is in Trastevere, and it is one of the main spots from Romans and expats to meet at night, although it has been discovered by some intrepid tourists as well. This piazza acts as the entrance to Trastevere, where there are many places to eat and bars to grab a drink in. Many young Italians just stroll from place to place, and walking in the narrow cobblestone streets acts as an activity in and of itself (in between drinks, of course). If you are facing the piazza with the river behind you, there is an authentic and cheap pizza restaurant on the left corner called La Margherita. The Diavolo is my favorite. Also, if you look up on the left above a stone wall there is a bar/club that is very popular with Romans. And, as you walk from the Piazza toward Santa Maria in Trastevere, there will be a market of sorts selling jewelry and other handmade crafts. There is a wine bar called Baccanale that is good in Trastevere. Off of Santa Maria in Trastevere, ther is a bar (I forget the name), but it has a white awning and looks slightly seedy. But, if you go in and ask for a "scropino" you will pay 2.60 for a tall glass of vodka mixed with lemon sorbet. In general, this is a great place to walk around at night to eat, drink, and people watch.
No dress code exactly, but Italians ALWAYS look nice when they go out. Stick with black and you will be fine. If you wear jeans, you will definitely mark yourself as a tourist. Theme: OtherAddress: In Trastevere, right by the TiberDirections: If you take the 8 tram from the Argentina end, get off at the first stop over the river and take a right, with the river on your right. Walk down until you see the piazza on your left.

Isola Tiberina by Jeannkelly The Island in the middlle of the Tiber River could look nothing more than an island devoid of anything except for the Jewish Hospital, church and zoo on it during daytime. By night, it turns out into a lively place of frequentations, arts, crafts, music, food and drinks and even a cinema. The river banks, dotted with "negozi" (food and beverage establishments), cater to your night time delights. If your looking for fresh air in the night while enjoying a nice dinner and drink, Isola Tiberina is where you should head to.

My friends in Campo;good enoteca is on left by nbeard, 1 more photos Campo di Fiori is a piazza lined with bars, and is a very popular place at night for grabbing a drink. There is a trick, however, as this spot is anything but secret. When I was living there, I was warned by Italians and non-American expats alike where the bars were to avoid, because the Americans took them over. One of them is here in Campo, and it is called The Drunken Ship. If you want to find some Americans to party with, this is the place. But if you want to go where the locals go, try some of the other enotecas in the piazza. If you are facing The Drunken Ship, to the left there are 2 enotecas side by side. The second one is very cheap, comparatively. You have to look close to see that these two are seperate. But once you have your drink, everyone tends to hang out outside, to socialize and people-watch.
As always, looking nice is better, but not required. Theme: OtherAddress: Campo di Fiori

by Wondagirl The first month, when I lived in Rome, I just went to the typical tourist spots like "Naughts head" and Alpheus. Then one day, I took a flyer, and we decided to go to the disco, and it was Alien. It's situated in Trieste, not too easy to find!! But it's a very nice club, with 99% italians (and 1% foreigners, wich is us =). They have a couple of dansfloors, and the music is dance, trance and house music. It's a pretty trendy place, and you'll met trannies and trendy romans. While I was working during the weekend, we always went there during the week. It was crowded anyway, but the guys were not so persistent and desperate! An advise is to call the guy at the flyers (you'll find one at the Corso!) and try to get at the guest list!
