Sit within the serene grounds of Villa Bortghese on the outdoor patio for drinks - enjoy the minimalist ambiance of the inside restaurant for dining - no reservations required. This is a "find" for anyone in Roma - no need to be associated with the film industry here - all are welcome. Don't miss an opportunity to see the Casa Cinema facilities while you're there. When I wrote this tip, the buffet was 8 Euro - it is now 15 and moved into the main downstairs dining room - still a bargain!
I always enjoy the brunch and especially on Sundays because I love spending a Sunday afternoon there in Villa Borghese. The buffet is only 15 € for one plate Mon-Fri -- Sat/Sun all-you-can-eat is higher but still a treat! This was a great recommendation from a Fodors poster. The owner an older Italian man very lively and welcoming and his wife is from New Jersey but has been living in Rome many years. They have great team work and make you feel at home.
I had the smoked salmon pasta with vodka and cream as a first and grilled lamb chops as my secondo mmmmm! Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Via delle Fratte di Trastevere 49/50

This is a very old and well known simple place, open only for lunch, located not far the Pantheon. The menu is always the same, but here you can really enjoy local recepies. This is the italian version of a fast food and the service can be occasionally rude if they need your table for someone waiting in line. Very simple decor, no wine list and no table cloth. Closed for dinner and on sunday
This might be a full roman menu: Puntarelle olio, sale, pepe ed acciughe Bucatini all'Amatriciana Saltimbocca alla Romana Tarallucci al vino Caffe espresso Make some practice with your dictionary book to translate it and let me know!! Il Gelato di San Csrispino. They made really the best Ice Cream in the whole Rome:) We like ice cream and sorbets there a lot. There are a lot of different tastes like banana with honey or grapes. There are only fresh ingredients!
I can't tell what was my favourite taste like there:) All were very good. It is closed Tuesdays. Leave a Comment Theme: Ice CreamPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Via Panetteria,42Phone: 39-06-6793924

Inside Antico Falcone by Sarita76 "Bancomat e carte di credito- NO!". Several signs on the walls remind you to take "real" money with you. This trattoria is one of the oldest in Rome, as it's there since early 20th century. The place and service is very simple and genuine, very "Roman", I would say. If you want to taste real roman cuisine and just look for simple food, then have a go. You won't be disappointed.
"Pasta alla nasona" (rigatoni pasta with a sauce made of tomato and cheese) is their special dish. It looks and tastes like your nonna's pasta. Cool! You can also find all typical Roman dishes such as bucatini all'amatriciana, spaghetti alla carbonara, penne all'arrabbiata, carciofi alla romana. And believe me, they're all very tasty. Worth a visit, definitely. Leave a Comment Theme: ItalianPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Via Trionfale, 60Phone: 06. 39736404Directions: Prati area

by Jmill42 In a 17th-century palazzo, this enoteca is filled from floor to arched ceiling with wines and spirits, all sub-divided by region - prices range from the cheap to a Brunello Riserva at over €500. But, you MUST come to Buccone's at lunch time, when this enotece turns into a small, hidden, gem of a cafe. It serves quite a varied menu for being such a small establishment. And, of course, BEING a place that sells wine, it does quite well with the selection of beverages! All kinds of meat and pasta dishes, at very reasonable prices, grace the menu. The best thing about lunch time here, is that all the locals are here, talking, yelling over wine and great food. It is a great place to take in some local flavor, and its even better if you can understand a little Italian so you can eavesdrop on what they are talking about! 9am-8.30pm Mon-Sat; 10am-7.30pm Sun
This was simple: Get the meat and cheese sampling platter and some wine. If you ask they will match your wine to your food. It was a spectacular meal. A map to help... by Jmill42 Everyone told me that Il Gelato di San Crispino has the best ice cream in Rome and maybe the world. The owner apparently is the most obsessive frosty fanatic, this side of the nuthouse. But, it really doesn't matter to me, as long as the gelati keeps flowing. Available flavors differ with the seasons, and you can't get a cone here, but who cares, right? I've since learned that there is another branch away from the chaos of the Trevi Fountain area. GOING, GOING, SOON GONE by travelgourmet Located near Piazza Pasquino, just around the corner from the more famous Piazza Navona sits Mimi e Coco. Outdoor tables, inside tables, and a bar make up this cozy lunch and supper cafe. The ambience is warm and the waitstaff will strike up a conversation at the click of a wine glass. You get the feel of a residential neighborhood cafe with many local residents sitting down to an espresso or glass of vino. Food offerings are varied but the pizza is pure roman squisito (delicious).
I was hooked on Pizza, but the wine choices are good as well. Like a tourist, I craved one of the t-shirts the waitstaff were wearing and yes they do sell them. Yes, I did buy one. TARTUFO REIGNS SUPREME by travelgourmet Located in the middle of Piazza Navona, Tre Scalini has been a favorite of mine over the years. Eating outdoors in the piazza costs a little more than inside but the people watching is wonderful along with the sights and sounds of the piazza. Many fine dishes are available and the wait staff waits until you signal them to order or pay the bill. Remember that you must call the wait staff as they do not like to disturb you while enjoying your food. They are not rude but respectful. Next door is their Mokarabia coffee bar and gelato parlor, so if the price is too steep at the ristorante then try the coffee bar.
Dessert is the main course here. Their signature dish, Tartufo, an ice cream decadent treat with a surprise, is not to be missed.
