I like this restaurant (better to say trattoria) not only because it serves tasty food, but mostly because its location. I really like Piazza delle Coppelle, used to work nearby not so long time ago :)
During my break I wandered in this neighborhood and Piazza delle Coppelle was this special corner where there were not many tourists. Yes, it's just 2 min walk from Pantheon, but instead tourists you will see small farmer market in the morning.
"Da Mario" has a nice patio outside, so you can sit outside and watch everyday Roman life, people buying vegetables etc. I really enjoy it.
As long as it's family run place since more than 30 years the food is really good, real home-made cooking. The prices are lower than in other places in this location and the quality much higher.
Opened for lunch and dinner.
It's closed on Sundays.
This restaurant on Vicola Chiesa Nuova turned out to be my favorite restaurant during this visit. Filled with locals, and run by a family it does a brisk business. Even Mama, who looked to be maybe 80 years old, was busy slicing the big loaves of bread, cutting slices of meats and grating cheeses. The woodburning pizza oven is roaring in the main room and the pizza chef builds a never ending train of pizzas in view of diners.
Favorite Dish: The Antipasto Misto here was to die for! A plate of deliciously grilled vegetables; peppers, eggplant, squashes, stuffed mushrooms, a generous slice of vegetable torta, marinated beans and sliced meats made up this feast. I followed this with an excellent carbonara. A mezzo bottle of the house red was perfect with this meal.

If the weather permits, always try to eat outdoors at any restaurant you go to.
Favorite Dish: The Veal dishes are to die for, but everything is wonderful in Italy.
