Il Gelato di Proscopio at Nomentano

well this is not in your tourist trail , near my stay for business and the family stayed near on vacation, this is real working class Italian place, serving quick meals and the best gelato in Rome, forget those fancy places in glossy travel guides, head for this family business and you will love it.

easy to get on metro to piazza bologna walk out on via XXI Aprile side and stay no sidewalk for about 100 150 meters small place but just what mamma told you to eat well always.

    the service is great too.

Favorite Dish: gelato of over 30 flavors all done in house, and just delicious the real fruit, coconut, nutella, strawberries, and hazelnuts, you name it all done home made and by a small family.

Il Gelato di San Crispino: The Best Ice Cream, Gelato, Whatever! Its Awesome!

Everyone told me that Il Gelato di San Crispino has the best ice cream in Rome and maybe the world. The owner apparently is the most obsessive frosty fanatic, this side of the nuthouse. But, it really doesn't matter to me, as long as the gelati keeps flowing. Available flavors differ with the seasons, and you can't get a cone here, but who cares, right?

I've since learned that there is another branch away from the chaos of the Trevi Fountain area. It is located

    San Crispino: Gelato!

Ofcourse there are countless places in Rome to enjoy a fine gelato, but it is said that San Crispino is King among them all. A wide and exotic array of flavours which include their tradmark made with Scilian wild honey.

Serious about gelato, they even provide guidlines on which flavours go together (and which do not)

Favorite Dish: my personal favorites are lemon and capuccino (which is most likely an unacceptable combination)

Il Gelto Di San Crispino: Brilliantly tasty ice cream

This place makes ice cream as it was always meant to be. It's just around the corner from the Trevi fountain and so it is worth seeking out before you sit down at the fountain to enjoy the view. Excellent ice cream, full of flavour.

This place is much better than some of the other more obvious ice cream places which surround the fountain.

Favorite Dish: The melon and pistachio were excellent...but we went back a few times to try out some more.

    Il Gelato di San Csrispino.

They made really the best Ice Cream in the whole Rome:)
We like ice cream and sorbets there a lot.

There are a lot of different tastes like banana with honey or grapes.

    There are only fresh ingredients!

Favorite Dish: I can't tell what was my favourite taste like there:) All were very good.

    It is closed Tuesdays.

Il Gelato di San Crispino: When In Rome, You Must Try Their GELATO

by Krystynn Updated Jan 16, 2004

    Gelati, anyone?

You can call me an unofficial ice cream expert :-) because I adore ice creams! My friends who know me will tell you that I only eat Haagen Daaz ice cream.... that is until I discovered the Italian Gelato.

Italians seem to excel in everything that they put their hearts and minds to. And their Gelato ice cream deserves an Oscar award!

And the best Ice Cream shop in all of Rome must surely be - Il Gelato di San Crispino. The gelati here are soft, creamy... delicious... and really, if it weren't for the fact that it's fattening, I'll probably eat it all day... and yes, all the time!

You can also buy a Gelato anywhere in Rome. But the most expensive places to buy one must surely be at the Spanish Steps. The gelati at Il Gelato di San Crispino isn't cheap either. :-(

One of my ex-colleagues bought a gelato just a stone's throw away from the Spanish Steps for - Gulp! - US$8 (and he didn't even sit in their cafe). Go figure.

Here I am (see photo please) - comparing whose Gelato is more appealing. By the way, I only eat chocolate ice cream and chocolate flavored Gelato. ;-P Just thought I'll elaborate a little in case you might want to buy me a nice Gelato when I am in Rome!

The best ice-cream of the world. I'm not such a fan of ice-cream, but when i tasted this I would love to eat everyday ice-cream.
    It's without colors en flavors.
