Maccheroni: Good traditional Italian cooking and great fun!!
It is a simple spot located just around the corner from the Pantheon. They serve only genuine Roman/Italian recipes with no time wasted in presentation of the dish. Just plain good food. Service is friendly and not very well organized especially during busy nights like Friday and SAturday but that's part of the fun. Make sure you get a table upstairs or outside during the good season otherwise you will miss the see-be seen game. Clientele goes from 20 to 50 but often you meet here 3-generations families enjoying a good meal all together.
Maccheroni is a kind of pasta not very long (about 6 cm) with a cilinder shape.
Next door there is a little charming wine bar called Enoteca Novecento that uses wine barrels as tables.

Maccheroni: Great food, clean bathrooms
We enjoyed a cheese plate, ravioli with pumpkin flowers, amatricciani and a plate of sausages. We never thought we would finish but we ate every bite it was so good! I will say that the bathrooms are for the guests only, they are unisex and they enforce that policy strictly. I saw them turn people away who only wanted to come in and use the bathrooms.
Favorite Dish: Sausages. They were just spiced and grilled perfectly.
Ristorante Maccheroni: Tasty despite its name
Anywhere else in the world, I would avoid a restaurant with the name Maccheroni. But not in Rome, where if it had served bad food, it probably would not have lasted, at least among the locals. Ristorante Maccheroni serves delicious Roman cuisine, complemented by other regional Italian dishes. It is located at a very charming piazza, just north of the Pantheon, next to a couple of other popular restaurants and wine bars.
Maccheroni: Very Nice And Delicious
We happened upon this place while casting about one evening looking for dinner. It turned out to be a great choice. They were very busy and had to squeeze us in. I get the impression that a reservation would be a good idea.
The staff was very good and well trained. The restaurant was very clean with an exposed kitchen. It had a busy but friendly feel.
The quality of the product use in the preparation of the dishes was excellent. The wine and bread were both very good.
The menu was typically Roman with a bit of inventiveness.
This restaurant is a bit more upscale than we are accustom to but I feel like they delivered.
Favorite Dish: I had an excellent Pasta Fagoli followed by a perfect insalata mista. We just had the house wine and it was very good.
Bob had a very nice steak and Barbara had some very nice stuffed pasta.

Maccheroni: the best amatriciana
It is famous in Rome, as for the coocking as for the location, in Piazza delle Coppelle, where u can drink something before or after dinner in a pleasant and young ambient
Favorite Dish: u HAVE to try the "amatriciana" or the "gricia" pasta.
Maccheroni: local food
If are in Rome and want to eat without spend half of your budget in a day and to eat good food...try this restaurant. Nice local and tipical food without "tourist trap" (when a visited it-summer2004)
Favorite Dish: Pasta!
Maccheroni: Local Favorite with personality
Great local hang out with pastas of all kinds, caprese salads, better to get a table outside as inside it was a bit warm. Staff had great personalities.
