Zi Gaetana Ristorante Pizzeria: Great Italian food
Zi Gaetana Ristorante Pizzeria is located along the shopping street via Cola di Rienzo just few meters from Piazza Risorgimento and the Vatican, in the elegant neighbourhood Prati.
There you can taste delicious mediterranean cooking in a nice ambience with a very friendly staff.
Favorite Dish: Inside Zi Gaetana Ristorante Pizzeria you can taste the delicous Italian and Roman cousine.
I can suggest to taste as pasta: La Carbonara, pasta with bacon, eggs, peper and pecorino cheese; Bucatini all'amatriciana, pasta served with buttery sauces, pancetta or guanciale, vegetables, cheese, eggs, and anchovies or sardines; Spaghetto trafilato al bronzo con sardine e pangrattato, spaghetti with Sardina fish and bread crumb.
As main dish I can suggest to taste: Filetto d'orata in crosta di zucchine, Fillet of gilthead in crust of zucchini; Filetto di orata in crosta di patate novelle al rosmarino, Fillet of gilthead in crust of potatoes and rosemary; Tagliata di scamone texano al balsamico, cut of Texan beef with balsamic vinegar.
As dessert you can ask to the waitress for the daily home made delicious.

Zi Gaetana: A nice place and yummy desserts :)
This restaurant is very well-located in via Cola di Rienzo and the atmosphere is very pleasant and calm, even if it was full. You could talk and have a decent conversation, even if the place was crowded: that's very important to me! The restaurant staff was nice and kind :)
Favorite Dish: We all had pizza, but I want to write about desserts... Mmmm, very very yummy!!! Jane (oneonta_ni on VT) had already been there and she said desserts were great... And yes, they were great!!! I had Catalan cream... So good!!! They also had "fruttini di gelato" (fruits with icecream) and a wonderful tiramisu with peaches!!! I will go back and try the tiramisu!

Zi Gaetana: Delicious new Italian food.
This place was a real gem and our only disappointment was that we found it at the end of our break and could only visit once. The food is definitely Italian but very unusual and new dishes. The decor is bright and modern with light wood and bright lights. The service was extremely good and attentive without being too obtrusive.
Favorite Dish: GF's meal was: antipasta - smoked salmon wrapped around rocket mousse with coconut oil, pasta - taglioni with courgette blossoms and fresh anchovy fillets, mains - (see photo) fillet of grouper on a bed of mushed corn/polenta. Dessert was very unusual - it was plate of various friuts and nuts that had been hollowed out and filled with ice cream. For example, there was a walnut filled with walnut ice cream, a prickly pear filled with prickly pear ice cream, pomegranite filled with pomegranite ice cream and so on. All really delicious and home made.
JF - I had had a big pizza in the middle of the day and was not too hungry so I went for lighter foods. Antipasta - salad of rocket, cherry tomatoes and shaved cheese (forgot what kind but it was like pecorino), pasta - gnocchi with spicey chicory and cod (really delicious). I wasn't able for a secondo and skipped it in favour of dessert. My dessert was called peach and hazelnut tart but was more of a hazelnut muffin with peaches.
We had a bottle of Pignoletto Frizzante, a refreshing sparkling white wine and a bottle of mineral water. The total was €65.
