    Al Sogno: For the Kids

    Old-style Dolls at Al Sogno

A wonder world for the kids where we went to buy some presents, Al Sogno has everything - antique toys and collectables, one-off and porcellain dolls (if you are taking kids best make sure they behave!), old-style and antique soft toys, chess sets and games.

There are also nice furniture items (we loved the old globes and the nursery furnishings), as well as smaller gift items.

What to buy: Soft toys and old globes were my favourites

What to pay: More expensive than average, with prices varying widely depending on the items. Gifts can be bought for under EUR20, but for anything antique or one-offs prices will rise.

On the corner of Piazza Navona, there is a lovely toyshop that's like a fairytale to wander in. It's all beautifully laid out, very full and if you want to go upstairs, then simply ask. The stairs are corded off but you can ask to go up.

What to buy: Loads and loads of lovely fluffy toys, many dog and cat breeds. Also games and fairy tale stuff. Venetian masks. Games and toys of the more luxurious kind.

What to pay: Anything between a few euro and much more :-)

Al Sogno is at the top of Piazza Navona. There are gifts such as ornaments and framed art work and also children's toys, a welcome break from the chain store banality of Toys 'R' Us. Large jointed mannequins abound, but my favourite was the giant soft toy camel, 2 Metres tall and maybe 75 Kg. If you have to take this back with you on the plane somewhere, start preparing your story now !

What to buy: Just contain yourself ! Could buy the shop ! (in the wish sense - not the wealth sense!)

What to pay: Nothing seemed especially cheap here !
