    Piazza Campo de' Fiori

    Campo de' Fiori market

It’s a great pleasure to arrive to Campo de’ Fiori during the day, when the fragrance of the florist’s shops and the intense activity of the fruit market inflame your senses. But it is also a pleasure by night, when the piazza terraces get full of people having fun.

It makes hard to imagine how this place was, 400 years ago, an execution place during the Inquisition. Giordano Bruno, whose statue stands in the piazza, was burned there.

Campo dei Fiori, Field of Flowers, used to be where they held executions. The monk statue is of Giordano Bruno, who was executed in 1600. Today it's a popular area for tourists. In the mornings (except Sunday), there is a fresh fruit and veggie market. At night, there are plenty of pubs and discopubs, many American owned or oriented.

We fell in love with this square and we were lucky enough to catch a morning market where we were able to get some cheese and local jam.

    Must taste good!

...and you'll find lovely moving postcards of typical Roman life, like this father and son trying out the water fountain in the square.

There are lots of restaurants, pub/bars. I recommend there especially at Rome nights. I have watched the final World Cup in 2006- Italy/France. Guess Rome when Italy won?!! Fabulous!!!

This is actually a market square in the west part of the centre not far from the Tevere river. But its not only for market shopping but also popular place for cafe & terracing on a sunshine day.

Campo dei Fiori at night - digital only

This is the Campo on a quiet night as seen from our terrasse. On the busy, crowded Friday and Saturday nights we were out as well and enjoying ourselves too much to think about photos.

    Campo di Fiori

campo di Fiori is one of my favorite places in Rome. They have a great food market there during the day, and great restaurants as well. Taverna del campo is one in particular that I love to go to.
