The temples of the Forum Boarium are the best preserved temples from the 2nd century BC. They are so well preserved because them served as chriatian churches during the middleages.
This round temple is the temple of Hercules. Because of its shape, which resembles the temple at the Forum Romanum, it is also known as the temple of Vesta.
As many sites in Rome it is surrounded by a metal fence, and not open to the public.

Both this temple and the Temple of Vesta were built in the 2nd century BC. They are very well preserved because they were used as chistian churches in the Middle Ages.
The Temple of Fortunus is also identified as the Temple of Portunus, who was the God of rivers and harbours. This referred to the nearby harbour of ancient Rome. The area inside the stone walls is called the cella, and is the place where the statue of the God stood.

This arch has four sides and was probably built around the time of Emperor Constantine. It was on a heavy traffic square and was the entrance to the Forum Boarium. It was a good place for entrepreneurs to do business under the arch because of the shadows. Above the four arches you can see little figurines of the goddesses Roma, Juno, Ceres and Minerva.

The temple of Vesta (actually it was dedicated to Hercules Victorious)... placed just in front of the church of S.ta Maria in Cosmedin. It became the temple of Vesta in Roman tradition, because of its round shape (as usually buildings dedicated to this cult were).

I'm a sucker for monuments, especially when they look cool like this one. I really like the Corinthian fluted columns and its exact round shape. This dates from the reign of Augustus. A church was established in the cella in the middle ages.

The temple was built around 100 BC and restored in the first century BC. It was converted into a church in 872 and rededicated to Saint Mary of Egypt.

Temple of Hercules was built in the late 2nd century BC by a Roman merchant. The temple has 20 columns that are almost 11 meters (about 36 ft) in height.
