Renaissance era palace. Mussolini used it as his principal residence. The museum contained within is recommended by Lonely Planet, but the line was too long for us to wait.

    Vittoriano (details)

Look around and see the intricacy of the details on and around this building.

The building also contains the tomb of the unknown soldier, Altar della Patria, and other art nouveau features.

Look at the symmetry of the fountain

On the main road from the Colosseum (forgot the name) , on the other side you will see this square with the beautiful building.
The building is the Vittorio Emanuelle Monument.

The monument known as the " wedding cake " is a monument to how tasteless triumphal architecture can actually get.

The picture shows the ruins of the Trajan Market, ancient Rome's equivilant of the shopping mall. It was built in the early 2nd century A.D.

This huge marble monument is a testament to Vittorio Emanuele II. He was the king who managed to unite all of Italy.
