Best way to city centre from Fiumicino Airport. 30 minute journey, and trains run every 30 minutes. €11 one way for an adult (Dec 07). At the city end its Termini station. At the airport station most people queue at the ticket desk or queue to tackle the automatic machines. We found that the newsagent 2 shops along from the Trenitalia desk also sells train tickets - same price and no queue! Its called an express train, but it ain't quick! That just means its non stop, but slow! Remember to validate your ticket before you board - yelllow machines beside the platform Theme: Train

By car: Leonardo da Vinci airport is only 32 km from the centre of Rome and is easily reached by taking the Rome-Fiumicino motorway . By taxi: I would suggest you to use only authorised taxis (white vehicles with a taximeter) that are available in the arrivals areas of the terminals The fares are as follows: fixed starting rate € 2.33 plus rate 1, urban rates, or rate 2, extra urban rates (outside the G.R.A. the City Ring Road). Supplements are requested for luggage, night-time runs and public holidays. By train: - SPECIAL TRAIN LEONARDO EXPRESS Ticket price € 8.80 Termini Station-Airport The “Leonardo Express” train leaves from Roma Termini station every 30 minutes, each day, from 05.52 to 22.52. Rome's airport by sandysmith We flew BA into Fiumicino Airport or Leonardo da Vinci Airport to give it its other name. Its a great modern clean airport - the floor shines with reflections! - one of the best i have been in. Easy connections are available into the centre of Rome by a linked railway. Theme: Airplane

take you pick... by sandysmith Other trains connects Fiumicino Airport to central Rome every 20 mins, and while it is slower than the express train, it does cost less. When you are at the airport train station, look for the train with the destination Orte or Fara Sabina. It stops at some smaller local stations on the way into Rome, but does NOT stop at Termini. Get off at the Tiburtina station to access central Rome - take Metro Line B or bus 649 or bus 492. The trip from the airport to Tiburtina station takes about 45 minutes. But for just a few euros more I think the express is less hassle, especially when you have luggage with you and your hotel (as many are) is near Termini. Theme: Train

by sandysmith Rome's main airport is well-connected to the centre of town during the day by an express train - the Leonardo Express. It costs € 8.80 and takes approximately 30 minutes. This train departs from and arrives at track 26 or 27 at Termini station, Rome's train station. Theme: Train

There are numerous options to get to the city centre. If you don't want to bother with buses, trains, subways and taxi drivers that may well take more of your money than is necessary, you can opt to pre-arrange for a private transport service to pick you up. We flew Sterling to Ciampino from Oslo. The airline said a taxi would cost 50 EUR, but it really can range from 35-75. There are two transport companies that i've found who charge a more normal rate to pick you up and safely transport you to your hotel. http://www.romeshuttlelimousine.com 35 EUR for 3 people with bags Tel: +39 348 5141804 (Charlotta) mail: info@romeshuttlelimousine.com<br /> http://www.romecabs.com/ 45 EUR 2 people with bags Via Garigliano, 66 00198 Rome Tel +39 339.3525028 - Fax +39 06.85303426 mail: romecabs@yahoo.com Theme: Car/Motor Home

The arrival sign by jeffmartinartist Ok! To you seasoned travelers that know it all this may seem obvious, but to the newcomer it can be a tough lesion. Taxi v Train into Rome. When you have jumped on a plane in Australia and your heading to Europe for the first time the excitement can be too much. Well by the time you have arrived and had one stop over and you are looking at 30 hours of free alcohol….well….. you can’t be blamed if you make a bad decision. Do not! arrive at the airport just jump into a cab… the airports are not as close to the city. Look for the train station at the airport find what looks like a ATM but is a ticket machine. It is a touch screen so push the Union Jack for English. The ticket machines will know where you are departing from and there is an express train to Rome. Many people have made this mistake, the train is fast and still takes around 30 minutes to get to Rome. Buy your self a Birra Moretti with the money you just saved. Leave a Comment

Boeing 737 by codrutz The most obvious way to arrive is by plane, mostly to Leonardo da Vinci Airport (formerly called Fiumicino Airport), some 50km north of Rome. From there the best option is to take the direct train "Leonardo da Vinci" to Rome's Termini Station (main train station) - 9,5eur/person. This train is pretty slow and it takes 30 minutes to reach Rome. The good thing is that it also arrives at the airport every half an hour. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

train station map; Rome by sinoda Travelling from Fiumicino airport to the city centre is easiest by train. You have two choices either take the Leonardo Express to stazione Termini or the Metropolitan FM1. I personally use FM1 (5e single fare) to Trastevere. The stations Ostiense and Tiburtina are connected to the subway line B. So if you want to avoid the stazione Termini hustle use this option. Leave a Comment Theme: Train
