Split Mountain, or Montagne Spaccata as it is known to the locals and the neighbouring Grotta del Turco are sights to behold. Legend has it that at the time of the crucifiction the mountain split in two. Half way down this staircase is the mark of a hand, said to be that of a Turkish sailor who didn't believe the event. At another spot shows an indent, said to be the bed of S. Filippo Neri. Lower still you can find the Crucifix Chapel which is said to date around the end of the X1Vth century.Split mountain was a little slippery that day so with my history of bone breaking I decided against the grotto walk, but my companion said it was beautiful..................I decided it was a must do next trip.Click on picture to see extent of composite pic

Hmmm, I doubt if I could call a real 'danger' hahaha, but a warning it certainly is. Hahaha, and it sure is the funniest moment of my visit to the Vatican! On this picture you can see the wall that surrounds the Vatican. And wow, do I know this wall !!!! Did you know that the wall surrounding the Vatican is 3,2 km long?? Well, I most certainly do, hahaha. Yep, I walked ALL the way around the Vatican!I was dropped off by a bus at the Vatican close to the entrance of the Saint Peter's Square, but I didn't have a map with me. So I tried to figure out which way to go, left or right....... I chose left.... oops! There is something you should now about me, I am just terrible in directions, I always go the wrong way. I am good at reading maps though, but without it, I am totally lost! I have no sense of direction at all. And that was what happened this time. I was so close to the entrance.... if...
