Vernazzola is a little rocky beach in the district of Genova Sturla. It is probably not known at all to tourists, and not so easy to reach, but it's really a lovely place and not overcrowded like Nervi (and not as beautiful as Nervi, we must admit!).
It's a good place to get sunbath in summer, spring and autumn too when there's the sun shining, but unfortunately it is not allowed to swim in the sea since the water is polluted! :-((
Bocadasse at sunset is an interesting and romantic area just minutes from the center of Genoa. It's a great place to begin shaking off the jet lag, exploring the boardwalk and neighborhoods, absorbing the culture of the residents, and falling in love with Italy!
Chiavari, 30 km East of Genoa (towards La Spezia). Whether you enjoy the view, go fishing, hunt interesting creatures (like the one on the photo) or try to catch sight of the rich in the nearby Portofino - it's definitely recommendable as a holiday spot.
DOLCEACQUA, north of Ventimiglia, is a very special place. Its medieval inhabitants knew how to protect themselves against the heat. The narrow, strenuous streets will make you feel in another time dimension.
The island of GALLINARA. The few islands off the Ligurian coast have retained their uncontaminated environment, where you can find colonies of birds and rare plants and flowers, and they are also of great interest from a geological point of view. The island of Gallinara derives its name from the hens ('galline')that lived there. It lies one and a half kilometres off the coast of Albenga, covers a surface area of 11 hectares and reaches an altitude of 90 metres at its highest point.
If you enjoy exploring a beautiful promenade, the area of Italy's Mediterranean within minutes (and hours) of Genoa has a world of nature for your discovery (and photographs:)
