    Buying some wine and foccacia....

Favorite thing: Buying some wine and foccacia. The sides of the hills of Le Cinque Terre are planted with grape vines. These grapes are used to produce a white wine called 'Sciacchetra' which means 'press and pull'. It is very good!

Favorite thing: ... stay in Vernazza. During August, Italians also takes their holiday so you have to be creative in getting accomodation. At the very last resort, go to Monterosso. You should be able to find accomodation there. Absoulutely spend a meal at the square in front of the Harbor in Vernazza. Same goes for the restaurant in fron tof the harbor in Manarola...or is it Maranola, I can't keep it straight.

Fondest memory: Definitely hiking through the five towns and stopping for a snack or a meal in Riomagiore, Manarola and Vernazza. Same goes for picking up picnic items in Manarola and hiking to a secluded beach right off Corniglia.

    MONTEROSSO

    Favorite thing: .
The biggest village of Cinque Terre is Monterosso al Mare. It has a beach, also castle and a 17th century monastery containing some valuable works of art. It is the most touristy of the villages.

Favorite thing: Corniglia is the highest one.It is the only town that does not lie directly on the sea. It gets its name from 'Gens Cornella' the family that once owned the land.
