As befits a restaurant at the seaside, Bolle in Pentola had extraordinary offerings of freshly-caught fish. But in fairness, it would have had to be awful for me to write a bad review, because we'd literally driven and walked miles and miles trying to find a "real" place to eat -- I do not count gelaterias! It also had terrific bread (my first taste of salt since we'd left Tuscany) and a bathroom that was worth writing home about.
Given all of the above, I did check with others before including my tip, and I find that they rate Bolle pretty highly. So don't hesitate to give it a shot, even if it's the first place you're trying and you aren't ravenous enough to eat the hind leg off a donkey.
We ate outside under a pretty umbrella, but there was a sophisticated interior which would be a welcome place during other seasons.
Favorite Dish: The tiny, crisply fried octopi were so good -- we had a sampler that included several things I couldn't immediately identify, but it all tasted terrific.

This restaurant is just in front of the sea, enbedded in the beautiful frame of Porto Venere, near the bathing establishments and the port. dishes are well prepared and pizza is also good. It offers accomodation as well with indipendent entrance for the guest willing to stay at night.
Favorite Dish: Try fried fish or spaghetti alle vongole (clams), they are superb!

The focaccia is a kind of pizza, a bit more salty and oiled, but a true delicacy! This region , Liguria , is also very famous for its food and the focaccia (especially the one made in Genoa) is very popular and appreciated... not only by me!

Favorite Dish: pesto, pesto,PESTO!!!!!! I love it ! Pesto is a sauce made of basil,Pecorino cheese, garlic, olive oil and pine nuts. Traditionally, the basil should be ground with a stone mortar and an olive wood pestle. For a a Pesto recipe and other Ligurian recipes, visit www.liguriafood.it/uk/recipes. tm

Any of the places in front of the harbor in both Vernazza and Manarola. Try to avoid Monterosso restaurants, mediocre food for tourists that doesn't know any better.
If you want to get away from the tourist hoard. The thing is, this place is getting popular. (Gee, thanks to Rick Steves). Better get it while you can.
Favorite Dish: Carpaccio in Vernazza and Fruite de Mare in Manarola.

The Blue Marlin bar and Forno bakery were great places to catch a quick meal and a good drink.
The Blue Marlin also has high speed internet connections and self service laundry.
