When in a foreign country, I always make a bee-line for their supermarkets. I love to spend a couple of hours wandering down the aisles checking out their produces, picking up bottles of wine and other tasty treats to enjoy during my stay. This was no exception! Almost by default we stumbled across this supermarket late one afternoon while it was pouring with rain.
We had left La Spezia disappointed that the rain had put a sudden end to our explorations, but we perked up once we spotted the IPERCOOP sign. Ipercoops are all over Italy and they are your basic supermarket - usually stocking quite a large variety of items: anything from clothes to electricals to food.
The prices are average - I would say they are our equivalent of Tesco or Sainsbury's...a place to get all your groceries and other miscellaneous items.
