Porto Venere is an amazing place very close to La Spezia, in a quiet corner of the gulf and on my opinion is one of the best location which worth a visit here. From its picturesque port, you may explore the narrow street climbig up to the center and up again to the church that dominates all the town. Here you will find a lot of shops selling the typical dishes of this part of Liguria.

    Portovenere

Portovenere is a lovely village near La Spezia. We visited it by car, but there are also trains and boats leaving from La Spezia to Portovenere. The landscape is breathtaking and the colour of the water makes you feel like diving into the sea at once.

Portovenere has colourful houses along a path by the shore. By the end of the path you will come across a church inside some walls, situated on top of a high cliff overlooking the sea. The marina and the fishing boats provide yet more colour to this characteristic village. If visiting La Spezia take some time to know Portovenere, I'm sure you won't regret it.

    Portovenere.
This is one of the most beautiful sea side resorts near La Spezia and very accessible by a bus in less than one hour.

the best way to reach portovenere is actually from the sea, passing the narrow channel beetween the tino island an portovenere with the romanic church and the castle on a side
