Lerici Castle houses the Museum of Geopalaeontology, which was created after the discovery of prehistoric remains in the area.
Furthermore the castle is also used as a venue for important cultural events.

The view of the sea at sunset is stunning. The food was alright, but we didn't finish our meal because the waiter was so rude and surly that we paid the bill and left before finishing.
To be honest I don't think all the help here is this way, but this gentleman certainly ruined our experience.
Favorite Dish: don't know ... we didn't make it through the insalata

Dining in the piazza in the old part of town gives it a romantic feel, and the homemade pasta and fresh seafood was delicious

Nearby touristy area, but very pretty scenery. If you can ignore the hordes of tourists, you'll have a great time. There is a train that takes you to and from each of the 5 towns. Check out my VT page on Manorola, one ot the 5 towns that make up Cinque Terra. Informative website below on the area, including Sarzana and Lerici.

Sarzana is the capitol city of the Valley of Del Magra. A lovely hamlet located just 15 minutes inland from Lerici. Pretty town with absolutely no tourists, quaint cafes along with two castles behind the town to explore. Really great little town.Check out my VT page on Sarzana. The website listed is a history of the entire area.
