    Arrival

by Marejka Written Oct 17, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: What a lovely place! Definitely a must see when you're around those corners. Anyhow, that's what a thousand other people think, so be prepared. We had been travelling around in Tuscany without reservations for at couple of days, but this city was difficult. Most hotels were quite over the budget, and the cheap ones or B&B's were fully booked or noone at home. If you arrive in a car, be aware that you cannot drive into the city center, and all other streets up the hills are VERY narrow. There's a main road around the city though, one direction. You are supposed to park your car somewhere on that street or in one of the parking places up hill. Then take the city bus - it's going round and round on that ring road nearly all day.

Fondest memory: Go explore the old church and the sea views, it's so beautiful!

    Cinque Terre Hiking Map

by MikeAtSea Written Jun 7, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: One can see how close the Cinque Terre is from Portovenere. Portovenere being in the South and the villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso from South to North. Two walking paths are indicated, one in blue closer to the coast and the red one further inland. Remember to get your park entrance fees!
