By the marina, there is a small market on the square underneath the trees. There are street vendors selling fresh fruit and also beach products such as buoys.
We bought some fresh fruit on a street vendor and it surely was worth it as it was very tasty. I guess prices were about average, being that Portovenere is a touristy destination in this area.

I found many street stalls with travel books and maps of Portovenere and Cinque Terre walking along the Passegiata Aldo Moro by the flat coastline of the Poet's Gulf. They were in a few most popular languages (surely in German, English and Italian).
